The 47 Report

Trump stumps Colombia

It’s been a week now since President Trump has taken office, and his efforts to show he’s not messing around with immigration are substantial; he’s spearheading long overdue deportations to clean house.

The deportations are coming with some international resistance. For example, the deportation of illegal aliens to Colombia escalated into a diplomatic and economic standoff. Initially, Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro refused to accept two U.S. flights carrying deported Colombians. This refusal was grounded in Petro's left-leaning assertion that these nationals should not be treated as criminals, particularly criticizing the use of U.S. military aircraft for these deportations.

President Trump responded swiftly with retaliatory measures, which were all written and posted to Truth Social while the president was golfing. As he was readying for the next hole, he announced 25% tariffs on all Colombian goods entering the U.S., threatening to increase this to 50% within a week. He also threatened visa revocations for Colombian officials and a potential travel ban.

Before his round of golf was over, the Truth Social posts prompted an immediate turnaround from the Colombian government, with President Petro even offering the use of the country’s presidential plane to ensure the return of the Colombian nationals. The deportees in question included individuals who had been arrested in the U.S., primarily for immigration-related offenses but also included those with criminal records. Approximately 80 Colombian nationals were on each of the flights initially turned away.

Trump also posted an AI-generated meme to his Truth Social account in response to Colombia’s reversal:

Las Vegas Rally: President Trump delivered a lighthearted and humorous speech in Nevada that had the crowd laughing multiple times.

Over the weekend, between his travels to North Carolina and California, Trump vowed to an audience at a Las Vegas rally that he would deliver "the four greatest years in the history of our country" and promised to push for a massive tax cut bill with Congress. In a rare relaxed tone, he shared amusing anecdotes and humorous jokes to the massive crowd.

In a standout moment, Trump joked about world leaders calling to express relief at his return to the Oval Office, mentioning their claims that Joe Biden rarely returned their calls. He also discussed freezing the hiring of 88,000 IRS agents, proposing reassigning them to border enforcement roles. The crowd cheered with approval at the proposal. Who knows, maybe Trump will make the jokes into reality.

You don’t need a long winded-response from me — just know I am overjoyed because after 20 years of covering immigration, someone is finally getting it done correctly. It’s not just Colombia, he is now getting into it with Haiti. Sent them all back!

Casino Don: Following his big speech to the crowd in Las Vegas, President Trump surprised gamblers by visiting a casino floor at the Circa Resort and Casino. Surrounded by security, he strolled past slot machines as the crowd erupted in "USA! USA!" chants.

First Lady’s Words: A viral clip shows First Lady Melania Trump comforting Los Angeles wildfire victims, speaking in her native language while engaging with residents in Pacific Palisades. The video captures her shaking hands, conversing, and hugging a woman as they speak Serbian. Watch Here.

Trump International Airport: Rep. Addison McDowell (R-N.C.) introduced a bill to rename Washington Dulles International Airport after President Donald Trump as the GOP completes its first week with Trump as the 47th president. The bill, H.R. 691, was referred to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. A similar bill introduced in March 2024 faced opposition under a Democrat-led Congress but now has a clearer path with Republican control of the White House and both chambers.

Dr. Phil Raids: Dr. Phil McGraw joined Tom Homan to observe and document Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in Chicago. The operation he teamed up with Homan on aimed at apprehending illegal aliens with criminal histories.

Birthright Citizenship: President Trump's executive order banning birthright citizenship, set for Feb. 19, was temporarily blocked by a Seattle judge. Experts expect the issue to reach the Supreme Court, potentially affecting tens of thousands of children born to illegal aliens. A Center for Immigration Studies report details the high number of births annually in the U.S.: “…there were 225,000 to 250,000 births to illegal immigrants in 2023, amounting to close to 7 percent of births in the U.S.”

Border Construction: President Trump’s DHS is completing border wall gaps left by President Biden, with Border Patrol Chief Michael Banks highlighting efforts in New Mexico to improve infrastructure and security. The expanded wall complements Trump’s other measures, including more border guards.

THE CRAZY LEFT

Empty Stores: Leftists and illegal immigration advocates are in supposed tears over recent videos that show stores like Walmart and Home Depot utterly empty of any customers, with the implication being their customer bases in some of these counties are flooded with illegal aliens. Either many of them have been deported or are fearful of coming out in public over worries of capture and deportation. See the videos here.

Gender Corrections: LGBTQ activists are melting down over President Trump’s executive order requiring transgender women to be housed in men’s prisons and halting gender-transition treatments. The order, part of a broader policy limiting gender recognition to sex at birth, also applies to immigration detainees. The Women’s Liberation Front, advocating for single-sex prisons, praised the move as a "major victory.”

Return to Work: A woke DOJ paralegal criticized President Trump’s executive order ending remote work in a viral TikTok video. In a recorded mental breakdown, she claimed in-person work was unproductive, claiming office chatter can be disruptive. The video has garnered over 4.3 million views and 18,000 comments within 24 hours, with many disagreeing with her assessment.

Ice Cream: Ben & Jerry’s just dropped a DEI-themed ad, declaring they’ll never stop fighting to “dismantle white supremacy” and “end the climate crisis.” The ice cream giant, known for its left-wing activism, doubled down on its progressive agenda, framing it as a battle for democracy. Watch.

J.D. VANCE

VP vs. CBS: During his "Face the Nation" appearance, VP Vance defended the Trump administration's aggressive immigration policies and ongoing ICE operations. Vance argued that these measures were necessary to protect Americans from violent crimes committed by illegal aliens. He criticized past administrations, particularly the Biden era, for what he described as inadequate vetting of immigrants, using examples where vetted individuals later posed security risks.

Margaret Brennan challenged Vance on the potential chilling effect these policies might have on minority communities, but Vance maintained his stance, telling Brennan when it comes to criminal illegal aliens: “I don’t really care Margaret, I don’t want that type of person in my country.”

CONGRESS & SCOTUS

CONFIRMED: The Senate voted 59–34 to confirm South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem as Secretary of Homeland Security, making her the fourth Trump nominee approved, joining Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth as confirmed Trump appointees. Noem was later sworn in by Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

Republican Retreat: House Republicans are holding their annual retreat at Trump National Doral Miami for strategic planning and policy discussions. The retreat, dubbed "Delivering The America First Agenda," focuses on setting legislative priorities for the new congressional session under the Trump administration. Key topics include tax policies, spending cuts, and immigration reform. A major part of the discussions will likely involve crafting a massive reconciliation package that could encompass tax cuts, energy policy, and immigration. President Trump is expected to address the House Republicans on Monday evening. Vice President J.D. Vance is also anticipated to join the proceedings.
