The 47 Report

LATE NIGHT PURGE

President Donald Trump reportedly fired 17 inspectors general from multiple federal agencies in what has been described as a late-night purge. These officials are tasked with identifying fraud, waste, and abuse within the government.

The agencies include the departments of defense, state, transportation, veterans affairs, housing and urban development, interior, and energy, The Washington Post said, citing unnamed people familiar with the matter.

The New York Times said the purge affected 17 agencies but spared the Department of Justice inspector general, Michael Horowitz.

The move has raised legal concerns as it appears to contravene a law requiring 30 days' notice to Congress before such dismissals. People involved in the Trump transition had signaled such a shake-up was likely. And it is in keeping with an effort that Trump began in early 2020, when he dismissed five inspectors general from their roles.

In 2022, Congress strengthened and expanded protections for inspectors general, making it harder to replace them with hand-picked officials and requiring additional explanations from a president for their removal.

ALSO…

PETE IS IN: President Trump said 'winning is what matters' after a tiebreaker vote in the Senate was needed to confirm former Fox News star Pete Hegseth as Defense Secretary.

Despite defections from Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky), Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), a 50-50 tie was broken by Vice President JD Vance to send the nomination through. .

Profile Picture DML's OPINION

Pete Hegseth's confirmation as Secretary of Defense is a victory for the MAGA movement because it shows how the Trump administration is breaking free of the Deep State’s influence. The D.C. machine wanted to dictate the confirmation process and slow down the agenda to make America great again, but Hegseth, Trump, and MAGA would not have it.

By sticking in there and not backing down, Pete has proven he is a fighter through and through. That's why President Trump picked him; he knows Hegseth won't back down from any enemy, foreign or domestic. Hegseth's battle through the confirmation process proves he's the warrior we need running the Pentagon. He may not be a perfect person, but then again none of us are.

What I saw over the past month is a man who fought his way to victory, and it feels good to know he is a major player in maintaining our nation’s safety and strength. With Hegseth in charge, our military will be tougher than ever. This isn't just a win for Hegseth and Trump; it's a win for every American who values freedom and security.

As a side note, thanks must be given to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. His appointment of Ashley Moody to fill the vacant senate seat once held by Sec of State, Marco Rubio, made it so the Republicans has enough votes to push the tie-breaker.

Deporting Them All: President Trump aggressively forged ahead with his pledge to carry out the largest mass deportation effort in US history in his first week back in power, arresting over 2,000 people in a widespread crackdown.

On Friday alone, ICE authorities arrested 445 illegal migrants with criminal records, with a further 148 migrants without rap sheets also taken into custody ready for deportation.

ELON’s Office: Chief of Staff Susie Wiles has reportedly wrangled "DOGE" and Elon Musk's direct access to President Trump. According to a report in the Daily Mail, DOGE is reportedly set to have an office outside the White House, in the Eisenhower building, instead of the West Wing. DOGE must also report to Chief of Staff WILES, not Trump, directly.

Mexico Taunts Trump?: Mexican authorities appeared to block a US military plane from deporting illegal migrants on Thursday after Donald Trump's immigration crackdown began. NBC News reported a packed jet never took off after authorities south of the border rejected the move. White House officials later clarified this was due to an administrative issue, which was resolved, allowing four deportation flights to land in Mexico.

Rally in Vegas: Trump is in Las Vegas for a rally on Saturday promoting his “no taxes on tips” proposal. It is the first time since his election that he has returned to Nevada.

FEMA: Visiting Asheville, N.C., to see the devastation caused by the remnants of Hurricane Helene, Mr. Trump on Friday proposed shuttering the Federal Emergency Management Agency, saying that states could do a better job at responding to disasters. Trump does not have the authority to shutter FEMA, which would require congressional action.

VISIT TO CALI: Trump sat down for a roundtable with LA Mayor Karen Bass and other state officials Friday. When the president entered the room, individuals were heard chanting "USA, USA, USA!" Bass greeted the president and said that his presence was welcomed. At one point, the president criticized Bass for not using her emergency powers to respond to the wildfires.

"You have emergency powers just like I do … you have to exercise them also," Trump told Bass, who responded that she did exercise them.

TRUMP and SCOTUS: Trump's Justice Department on Friday asked the Supreme Court to freeze a handful of cases, including a challenge to one of former President Biden's student loan bailouts. Acting Solicitor General Sarah Harris filed several motions Friday asking the court to halt proceedings in the student loan case and three environmental cases while the new administration will "reassess the basis for and soundness" of Biden's policies.

The Supreme Court was expected to hear oral arguments for these cases in March or April and issue decisions later this term. But Trump's DOJ requested that the high court halt all written brief deadlines, which would put them on indefinite hold.

Department of Homeland Security: Lawmakers will meet for a rare Saturday session to hold a vote on whether to confirm South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, Trump's pick to lead the Department of Homeland Security, to the top Cabinet position. Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., indicated earlier in the week that the Senate would stay over the weekend to push through the confirmation process if Democrats blocked voting efforts.

RIGHT TO LIFE: Trump on Friday reinstated a longstanding Republican anti-abortion policy known as the “Mexico City Rule,” which bars federal funding from going to any overseas nongovernmental organization that performs or promotes abortions.

NEW NAMES: The Trump administration said on Friday that it had followed through on the president’s promises to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America” and return Denali, the Alaska Native name for North America’s tallest peak, to its earlier name, Mount McKinley. Changing the name of the Gulf as it is used in the United States is within the administration’s power.

THE CRAZY LEFT

Warren’s Crying: Radical Left Senator Elizabeth Warren went bonkers over the Pete Hegseth’s confirmation. In one of many posts on X, she wrote, “Pete Hegseth’s confirmation will make our nation less safe. It is a sad and dangerous day when Republican Senators put loyalty to President Trump ahead of our national security.”

Obama & Jennifer: Rumors continue to circulate about the Obama couple having troubles, and that the former president is having an affair with Friends star, Jennifer Anniston. Social media is abuzz with speculations, which have been further sparked by the former first lady’s absence at big events.

TIME: Radical left media outlets are working overtime in trying to make Trump’s first week appear like a disaster. An example: TIME Magazine posted the following on X: “A TIME analysis found that nearly two-thirds of the executive actions Trump has issued mirror or partially mirror proposals from Project 2025.”

REP LEE: The black radical female Democrat from PA, Rep. Summer Lee, claimed in a post on X that "white supremacy and xenophobia" are the political right's "true religion" and that the values of those on the right do not stem from Christ's life and instruction.

"It's long been known that the true religion of the right is white supremacy and xenophobia. None of their real values are from the life and teachings of the Christ of the Christian Bible..."

J.D. VANCE

Vance Speaks: Vice President JD Vance was the key speaker at the March for Life in D.C. to advocate for protecting the unborn and making it easier and more affordable for couples to raise American families.

On X, Vance poked fun at his need to cast the deciding vote to confirm Hegseth as Sec of Defense, stating he thought he was done voting in the senate.

CONGRESS:

RAND PAUL: The senator from Kentucky reintroduced the Defund Planned Parenthood Act, stating on X that “life begins at conception.”

REPUBLICAN LAWMAKER GOES EASY ON DEPORTATIONS: South Florida Republican Maria Elvira Salazar is urging President Trump to spare hundreds of thousands of people from Latin America and the Caribbean from his immigration crackdown. She wrote in a letter Friday not to remove people from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela who were allowed to enter the U.S. by Joe Biden’s administration under a humanitarian parole program.

PODCASTS:

Friday’s program, Life After 50 featuring Andrew Wright, can be seen on Facebook. He’s been an intel specialist recently stationed in Ukraine to gather information on war crimes. Wright has spent his career acting as an international investigator who has dealt with violent gangs, ISIS, and crimes in the private sector including those in the illegal diamond trading business. The conversation is about ISIS, the war on terror, Putin, and the ugliness of the intelligence agencies.
