Today’s Big Story…

A mass shooting at Florida State University in Tallahassee left two people dead and six injured yesterday, including the suspect.

The shooter, identified as 20-year-old FSU student Phoenix Ikner, the son of a Leon County sheriff’s deputy, used his mother’s former service handgun and carried a shotgun, though he only used the handgun. The two deceased victims were not students, and the injured were treated at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare. Ikner was shot by police, hospitalized, and taken into custody after refusing to comply with commands. The university canceled classes through Friday, and law enforcement, including the FBI, continued investigating the motive.

President Trump, briefed on the incident, called it “a shame” and “a horrible thing,” stating, “It’s horrible that things like this take place.” When asked about potential gun law changes, Trump emphasized his commitment to the Second Amendment, saying, “I’m a big advocate of the Second Amendment… the gun doesn’t do the shooting, the people do.”

Another Big Story…

President Trump lambasted Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, saying his “termination cannot come fast enough” over the Fed’s reluctance to cut interest rates.

Trump hinted at firing Powell following the chair’s comments that Trump’s tariffs and policy shifts have created uncertainty for the Fed. Initially nominated by Trump in 2017 and reappointed by Biden in 2022, Powell said in November he would not resign if asked by Trump.

My Thoughts…

One of Trump’s biggest regrets was appointing Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court. His next biggest regret might be giving Jerome Powell the role of Fed Chair. Every time Powell speaks, anger seethes within me. I’m sure it does for Trump, too. There’s plenty to say about Powell, but it’s Good Friday, so I’ll bite my tongue on this one.

The Administration…

  • Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni visited the White House and announced that President Trump accepted her invitation for an official visit to Italy, where he may also meet other European leaders amid ongoing U.S.-EU trade talks.

  • President Trump also announced that an 80-page minerals deal with Ukraine will be signed next week, with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent later clarifying the likely date as April 26. Details remain limited, though reports indicate the U.S. has reduced its aid repayment demand from $300 billion to $100 billion.

  • President Trump slammed the Obama-appointed judge who blocked his order to deport over 500,000 illegals from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela with temporary protected status in a Truth Social post.

  • ICE has arrested over 1,000 illegal alien workers and is proposing fines for businesses employing them, the Trump administration revealed, calling it a historic crackdown on illegal labor.

  • The Supreme Court will hear arguments on May 15 in a major case challenging President Trump’s attempt to end birthright citizenship. Trump signed the executive order on his first day in office, prompting widespread lawsuits.

  • Surprisingly, Justice Elena Kagan denied an emergency appeal by four Mexican nationals seeking to delay deportation to file a review petition. She issued the decision without comment or referral to other justices.

  • SpaceX, Palantir, and Anduril have emerged as leading contenders to help build President Trump’s Golden Dome missile defense system. The companies recently met with top Trump and Pentagon officials to pitch their joint proposal.

  • Billionaire Mark Cuban voiced support for President Trump’s executive order on drug pricing, despite opposing many of his policies. Cuban, who founded Cost Plus Drugs to lower generic drug costs, said the order could lead to major savings.

  • Texas is close to passing a $1 billion school voucher program after the state House approved it 85-63. With only two Republicans opposing, the bill is expected to advance, prompting celebration from GOP leaders, including President Trump.

Vice President…

JD Vance visits Rome today to meet Italy's prime minister and the Vatican secretary of state. Off the official schedule, he's also hoping for a brief meeting with Pope Francis, according to sources. He will be attending Good Friday Mass with his family at the Vatican. Vance converted to Catholicism in 2019.

Congress…

Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez used a private jet, costing up to $15,000 an hour, for multiple stops on their “Fighting Oligarchy” tour. A photo shows them boarding the luxury Bombardier Challenger in Bakersfield after a rally, with flight records confirming their arrival in Sacramento for a second event that evening.

Several Democrat lawmakers declined to explain why they opposed the SAVE Act, which requires proof of citizenship to vote and purges non-citizens from voter rolls. Only four Democrats supported the measure, which passed with Republican backing.

Rep. Ilhan Omar’s daughter, Isra Hirsi, promoted a GoFundMe for Columbia student Mohsen Mahdawi, who faces deportation over pro-Hamas activism. Hirsi, a senior at Barnard College and outspoken anti-Israel activist, shared the fundraiser on Instagram, with donations surging from $9,000 to over $42,000.

Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI) called for President Trump’s impeachment over the administration’s handling of a Supreme Court ruling that ordered the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was deported to El Salvador.

GOP candidate Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears is accusing former Rep. Abigail Spanberger of deliberately omitting her trustee role from congressional financial disclosures. Sears' campaign calls it “a calculated lie,” not a mistake.

The Resistance…

  1. Infamous pollster Nate Silver believes AOC is the leading contender to be the next Democratic presidential nominee in 2028.

  2. New York City's Democrat-led council is suing Mayor Eric Adams for letting ICE conduct immigration investigations at Rikers Island. The lawsuit seeks to void his executive order, calling it “illegal.”

  3. A federal appeals court rejected the Trump administration’s request to block an order requiring the U.S. to return Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a deported Salvadoran illegal alien with a violent record and gang ties.

  4. Nejwa Ali, a former PLO spokeswoman hired by the Department of Homeland Security to vet asylum seekers, was fired by the Trump administration. Despite her public support for Hamas, the Biden administration had kept her in the role for 14 months.

  5. Abouzar Rahmati, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Great Falls, Virginia, pleaded guilty to secretly acting as an agent for the Iranian government while working as an FAA contractor from 2017 to 2024. Rahmati, a former officer in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps—a U.S.-designated terrorist organization—failed to notify the Attorney General as required by law.

  6. A Chinese national convicted of setting fire to a historic Alabama church in 2021 reportedly escaped federal prison. Xiaoquin Yan, 31, was sentenced last year for starting four fires at First Baptist Church in Montgomery, causing tens of thousands of dollars in damage. She had surveilled the church for months and referred to its pastors as “rich white men.”

  7. Chinese companies Temu and Shein plan to raise U.S. prices next week in response to President Trump’s executive order ending a tariff loophole on low-value imports.

In Other News…

  1. ICE placed detainers on two Venezuelan illegal aliens accused of kidnapping and torturing a Washington state woman in January, including one with suspected ties to the violent Tren de Aragua gang. Read more…

  2. A 2-year-old boy who vanished from his Arizona home was found safe after spending the night alone and walking 7 miles through mountain lion territory. Authorities say a rancher’s dog helped lead him to safety. Read more…

Your Opinions & Questions…

Fgirimon: Soros and his son have to be banned from this country. This should be a priority for the Trump administration. They hate America; they want to destroy this country. NGOs funded by them are paying agitators and protesters to cause chaos in this country. This is what they did in Europe, and that's why they are banned from several countries in the Middle East and Europe. Mass migration is the destruction of any country.”

47 Report: Nothing would put a bigger smile on our faces if the influence of the Soros family were to wither away into obsolescence.
