Today’s Big Story…
As his first 100 days back in office near completion, President Trump reflected on his administration's progress concerning tariffs and border security in a Fox interview.
Asked by Rachel Campos-Duffy what he’s most proud of, Trump pointed to gains in tackling the border crisis: "It's perfect now, and I don't know if you can tell. Perfect. But it's going to get better. And by the way, we want people to come in, but they have to come in legally and everybody agrees to that."
Illegal crossings have steadily declined since Trump's return, with new CBP data showing the entire month of March 2025 had fewer apprehensions than the first two days of March 2024 under Biden. It marks the second straight month with the lowest daily apprehensions in U.S. history.
President Trump also expressed pride in the administration’s economic achievements, particularly its tariff policies: "We're making tremendous amounts of money taking in billions and billions, hundreds of billions of dollars in tariffs from other countries that for many, many decades just ripped off the United States."
Another Big Story…
Dan Caldwell, a top adviser to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, was escorted from the Pentagon Tuesday and placed on leave over an alleged unauthorized disclosure.
The leak investigation is ongoing as the Trump administration ramps up efforts to crack down on leaks, a move strongly supported by Hegseth. A March 21 memo from Hegseth’s chief of staff called for an investigation into recent unauthorized disclosures of sensitive national security info. Caldwell, now under scrutiny, previously worked at Defense Priorities and Concerned Veterans for America.
My Thoughts…
We’re nearing the 100-day mark, and while there’s still plenty the Trump administration needs to accomplish, one accolade can certainly be given: the border is more secure than it’s been in a very long time. Now we just need deportation numbers to spring up and more clearing out of the departments harboring bad actors, such as DoD’s Caldwell.

The Administration…
The Trump administration has accused New York AG Letitia James of mortgage fraud. The FHFA sent a criminal referral to the DOJ, alleging James falsified records to secure favorable loan terms, FHFA Director William Pulte said in a letter to AG Pam Bondi.
DOGE and the VA canceled a $15.3 million contract labeled “unreasonably priced” and replaced it with a $5,000 market-rate deal, saving $11.1 million. The original contract had cost $3.9 million annually.
DOGE and Secretary Rubio’s State Department also canceled 139 grants worth $215 million, which included $5.2 million for “media diversity” programs in the UK, $2.5 million for “advancing critical civic engagement” in Uzbekistan, and $2.4 million for “responding to disinformation” initiatives in Belarus.
The Trump administration is considering plans to close 10 embassies and 17 consulates and reduce or consolidate the staff of several other foreign missions, according to an internal State Department memo.
The U.S. Treasury Department has lifted sanctions on Antal Rogan, a top aide to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
The federal government is freezing over $2.2 billion in grants and $60 million in contracts to Harvard after the university refused to follow the Trump administration’s orders to curb campus activism.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed in a press conference that NVIDIA has committed $500 billion to build AI supercomputers exclusively in the United States.
Honda plans to expand U.S. production by up to 30% over the next 2–3 years in response to new Trump-era tariffs. The automaker aims to shift key model manufacturing from Mexico and Canada to the U.S., targeting 90% domestic production for U.S. sales.
President Trump signed an executive order urging Congress to revise the Medicare drug pricing law, addressing the industry’s complaint about the “pill penalty.” The rule currently allows small-molecule drugs to face price negotiations sooner than biologics.
President Trump issued an executive order directing Howard Lutnick, the commerce secretary, to open a national security investigation of the importation of critical minerals days after China suspended exports of such resources as part of the trade war initiated by Trump’s tariffs earlier this month. Trump has suggested that similar investigations of chips and pharmaceuticals could result in additional tariffs.
President Trump has signed an executive order aimed at preventing illegal immigrants from receiving Social Security benefits. This order also expands investigations into Social Security fraud, particularly targeting records of centenarians with mismatched social security numbers, to combat identity theft and fraud within the system. The memorandum includes measures to increase enforcement actions against fraud in Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid programs.
ICE detained Columbia University grad student Mohsen Mahdawi, who led anti-Israel groups and backed the Oct. 7 Hamas attack. His green card, revoked under the Trump administration, led to his arrest in Burlington, Vt., ahead of a citizenship test.
A Maine school district voted unanimously to follow the federal Title IX definition by recognizing only biological male and female sexes and banning transgender athletes from girls’ sports.
President Trump has picked Gary Shapley, an Internal Revenue Service agent who has said the investigation into Hunter Biden’s taxes was not aggressive enough, to temporarily lead the tax collector.
In a roll back of its retaliation against U.S. tariffs, Canada’s finance minister said that the government would let automakers import vehicles assembled in the United States duty-free.
Trump is contemplating a bailout for farmers impacted by tariffs, echoing actions taken during his first term. Discussions highlight a potential relief measure amidst the ongoing trade war, where tariffs have led to financial strain for many farmers.
Trump has suggested that countries might have to choose between aligning with the United States or China in terms of economic and possibly strategic partnerships.
Vice President…
JD Vance slammed the mainstream media for its continued coverage of Kilmar Garcia, an MS-13 gang member and illegal alien, and their attempts to paint a sympathetic story. Vance wrote on X: “I’m old enough to remember when both major parties agreed that illegal alien gang members ought not live in your neighborhood.”
Congress…
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) continues to wield major influence on the left with record crowds and fundraising. Touring with Sen. Bernie Sanders, she raised nearly $10 million in the first quarter—her best yet—and ranked seventh among all House members last cycle, bringing in over $15 million. However, AOC faced backlash online after being accused of using a fake accent during an Iowa rally with Sanders. The event drew over 12,000 people, but a clip of her allegedly altering her voice sparked criticism.
Former Rep. Mayra Flores announced she’s running to unseat Democrat Henry Cuellar in Congress. However, hours later, her team revealed that she had been hospitalized, though no details were given.
Democratic Senators are urging HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to reinstate a Biden-era rule allowing Medicare and Medicaid to cover obesity drugs, after the Trump administration chose not to finalize it. The request came from Sens. Merkley, Klobuchar, Booker, Luján, and Peters.
Senator Chris Van Hollen, a Democrat of Maryland, says he will travel to El Salvador Wednesday morning in response to President Nayib Bukele’s decision to not return Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia to Maryland from a notorious Salvadoran prison.
The Resistance…

Former President Joe Biden delivered his first public speech since leaving office, serving as the keynote speaker at the national ACRD conference.
Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a $2.8 billion bailout to cover a deficit in California’s Medicaid program, Medi-Cal, which grew after expanding coverage to illegal aliens. His office confirmed the move, part of a broader request for $3.4 billion to help cover $6.2 billion in costs and keep the program running through June for 15 million residents, including noncitizens.
Artemio Garcia Perez, a 20-year-old illegal alien from Guatemala accused of rape in Alabama, was arrested by CBP agents at Atlanta’s airport while allegedly trying to flee the U.S.
Former NASA astronaut Dr. Mae Jemison interrupted a CBS interview after host Vladimir Duthiers used the word “mankind” when asking about Blue Origin’s latest launch. Jemison insisted on “humankind” instead, prompting Duthiers to apologize and correct himself.
Henry Ford Health, Michigan’s second-largest healthcare system, is under fire for providing transgender treatments to minors and promoting DEI policies.
A federal judge in New Hampshire ruled in favor of a school district, blocking parents from wearing “XX” armbands supporting biological girls-only sports on school grounds. The wristbands, referencing female chromosomes, were worn during a soccer game against a team with a transgender player.
A town hall for Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia outside of Atlanta on Tuesday quickly deteriorated into chaos, as police officers forcibly removed several protesters.
