Today’s Big Story…

U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff told The Wall Street Journal that dismantling Iran's nuclear program remains a "red line" for the Trump administration as indirect nuclear talks begin today in Oman. The high-stakes meeting, mediated by Omani officials, will bring together Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and U.S. envoy Witkoff, with both sides hoping to ease mounting tensions.

The U.S. has long accused Iran of using its nuclear program as a cover to develop weapons and has threatened military action if diplomacy fails. Iran, however, insists its program is strictly for civilian energy purposes and says it will not negotiate under pressure.

The talks mark the first significant engagement since President Trump withdrew from the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which had curbed Iran's nuclear activity in exchange for sanctions relief. Witkoff reiterated the administration’s position that Iran must never acquire a nuclear weapon but acknowledged that compromises may be necessary to reach a lasting agreement. With Iran’s economy battered by years of sanctions and internal unrest, and regional tensions rising, the outcome of today’s talks could determine the future of U.S.-Iran relations.

Another Big Story…

Russian American ballerina Ksenia Karelina thanked President Trump in a video after returning to the U.S. in a prisoner swap with Russia. Trump shared the clip on Truth Social, writing, “Glad to have you back home.”

Karelina was sentenced to 12 years in a Russian prison for donating under $100 to a Ukrainian charity. In exchange for her release, the U.S. freed Arthur Petrov, a German-Russian national accused of illegally exporting sensitive microelectronics.

The Administration…

  • President Trump visited Walter Reed hospital for his annual physical, saying he "aced" it. He added, “I wanted to be a little different than Biden. I took a cognitive test, and I don’t know what to tell you other than I got every answer right.”

  • The Trump administration is canceling thousands of Social Security numbers issued to illegal aliens under Biden, including some with criminal records or ties to the FBI’s terror watch list. Over 6,000 names were added to the Social Security Administration’s “dead people” database, blocking access to benefits and legal employment.

  • A bombshell report from DOGE reveals that roughly 6,300 migrants released into the U.S. under President Biden—some on the Terrorist Watch List or with criminal records—were granted Medicaid, work permits, and Social Security numbers despite lacking legal status.

  • Eighteen criminal illegal aliens have been charged in an identity theft probe led by ICE. Charges include aggravated identity theft, misuse of Social Security numbers, and false citizenship claims.

  • Bridget Brink, U.S. ambassador to Ukraine for the past three years, is stepping down, the State Department announced

  • El Salvador President Nayib Bukele will meet with President Trump at the White House on Monday.

  • Tesla has halted new orders for its U.S.-made Model S and Model X in China amid rising trade tensions between the U.S. and China.

  • A Louisiana immigration judge ruled that Columbia grad student Mahmoud Khalil can be deported as a national security risk. The judge agreed with the government’s claim that his presence could cause “potentially serious foreign policy consequences,” citing his involvement in pro-Palestinian protests.

Vice President…

JD Vance’s visit to Greenland led to the removal of Col. Sussanah Meyers, commander of Pituffik Space Base, due to a “loss of confidence,” according to the Space Force. Meyers had emailed staff distancing the base from Vance’s remarks about Denmark, which governs Greenland.

Congress…

First Lady Melania Trump joined lawmakers in celebrating the House Energy & Commerce Committee's near-unanimous passage of the Take It Down Act. The bill criminalizes sharing non-consensual nude images, with penalties of up to three years in jail and requires online platforms to remove explicit content within 48 hours of a victim’s request.

Four Senate Republicans cautioned against a full repeal of the 2022 energy tax credits, warning it could disrupt the economy and hurt U.S. energy leadership. While supporting fiscal responsibility, Republican Sens. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), John Curtis (Utah), Thom Tillis (N.C.) and Jerry Moran (Kan.). urged a more measured approach.

Sen. Chuck Schumer and Sen. Elizabeth Warren are urging the SEC to investigate whether Trump insiders profited from insider knowledge when steep tariffs were paused. They’ve asked SEC Commissioner Paul Atkins to probe possible securities law violations by Trump and his associates.

The Resistance…

  1. In response to President Trump’s tariffs, China raised its tariffs on U.S. goods to 125%, escalating a trade war that’s driving up costs and stoking fears of a global recession. The move followed a U.S. announcement that Chinese exports now face at least a 145% tariff.

  2. A federal judge ordered the Trump administration to lift its freeze on federal funds to Maine, ruling that the USDA must immediately release any withheld funding related to the state’s noncompliance with Title IX.

  3. “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg, whose net worth is estimated at $60 million, told Americans to “suck it up” and pay more taxes to support schools and public services—despite acknowledging many are “struggling day to day.”

  4. Shawn Monper, 32, of Butler, Pennsylvania, was charged with threatening to kill or assault President Trump, Elon Musk, ICE agents, and others in YouTube comments posted under the name “Mr Satan.”

  5. British police arrested five Greenpeace activists and the group’s UK director after they dumped 80 gallons of red dye into a pond at the U.S. embassy in London. The protest aimed to highlight the "death and devastation in Gaza" linked to U.S. arms sales to Israel.

  6. Resurfaced videos show Democrats once supported policies now tied to the Trump administration, including deportations and border security. Elon Musk shared a “flashback video” of Hillary Clinton calling for the swift deportation of criminal illegal aliens, saying, “no questions asked, they’re gone!”
