Day 82
Trump's team checks in, as the threat of China rises
Today’s Big Story…
President Trump gathered his Cabinet at the White House yesterday for a public meeting, inviting reporters in as each member gave updates on their work. Trump praised his team and told the press he wanted the American people to see firsthand what his administration is doing.
“Everyone at this table is doing an incredible job… It’s like they’re friends; The relationships are very strong and these meetings are very good,” said Trump. “These are very sacred meetings, very private meetings, but we have nothing to hide… we want to be transparent.”
Each Cabinet member shared important updates with their latest actions, such as Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reporting on his trip to the Panama Canal, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick discussing tariff negotiations, Transportation Sec. Sean Duffy noting American shipbuilding revitalization, and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem unveiling low border crossing numbers.
Another Big Story…
In a secret December meeting, Chinese officials admitted to a series of cyberattacks on U.S. infrastructure, escalating tensions between the two nations.
The attacks, targeting ports, utilities, and airports, were linked to growing U.S. support for Taiwan. At a Geneva summit with the outgoing Biden administration, Chinese officials indirectly acknowledged ties to the Volt Typhoon cyber campaign, surprising U.S. delegates. The subtle admission was seen by many in the room as both a warning and a response to a U.S.-Taiwan relationship.
My Thoughts…
The Trump team has a lot of talent and enthusiastic people, notwithstanding Marco Rubio, who always looks miserable. Imagine if the courts were not a nuisance — this would be the most effective team ever. As for China, they’re slime. I expect nothing less.
Let’s start live-streaming the raids.

The Administration…
President Trump warned Mexico of possible tariffs or sanctions if it continues withholding Rio Grande water owed to Texas under the 1944 treaty. In a Truth Social post, he claimed Mexico is violating its obligation to deliver 1.3 million acre-feet of water.
The Trump administration is revoking the parole of over 6,000 illegal aliens found to have criminal records or appear on the FBI’s terror watchlist. CBP identified the individuals as having entered under Biden’s parole policies.
The Trump administration scored a win when a federal judge upheld the requirement for illegal aliens to register and carry documentation. Judge Trevor McFadden, a Trump appointee, ruled the challengers lacked legal standing, allowing enforcement of the existing law to proceed.
NYC Mayor Eric Adams’ administration has reversed a long-standing sanctuary policy by allowing ICE to resume operations at Rikers Island. ICE will target gang activity and drug trafficking, with Rikers transferring illegal aliens into federal custody for deportation.
The National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice is backing the reopening of Delaney Hall, a large migrant detention center in Newark, New Jersey, urging Mayor Ras Baraka to drop his opposition. Democrats are fighting in court to block the facility, which could hold up to 1,000 criminal illegals.
The U.S. and Panama have signed a new defense pact to strengthen control over the Panama Canal, a move Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth says counters China’s growing influence. The Panama Canal Authority confirmed the agreement, reaffirming sovereignty and expanding military cooperation.
Days after President Trump vowed major tariffs on drug imports, Swiss pharmaceutical giant Novartis announced a $23 billion investment in U.S. manufacturing.
A new study suggests children in households with fluoridated water face a significantly higher risk of autism. At the Cabinet meeting, Secretary Kennedy called the findings alarming and announced a research initiative involving hundreds of scientists to investigate the root causes of autism.
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard announced that long-sealed documents on the assassinations of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy Sr. and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will be released in the coming days. The announcement came as she sat near RFK Jr., the late senator’s son.
DOGE uncovered millions in unemployment benefits have gone to fake identities, including people not yet born. Since 2020, 9,700 claims tied to future birthdates—one as far out as 2154—have received $69 million.
The Supreme Court upheld a lower-court order requiring the Trump administration to help return Kilmar Abrego García, who was mistakenly deported to a mega-prison in El Salvador. The justices, with no noted dissents, agreed the government must “facilitate” his release and handle his case as if he had never been wrongly removed.

Vice President…
JD Vance faced criticism from Elon Musk's brother, Kimbal, over his defense of Trump’s tariffs. Quoting Vance’s post about "limousine socialists" and China, Kimbal replied, “Republicans for higher prices,” blaming the tariff plan for the rising costs of everyday goods.
Congress…
House Republicans narrowly passed President Trump’s budget blueprint in a 216-214 vote, overcoming conservative concerns over limited spending cuts. The win advances Trump’s agenda, setting the stage for a fast-tracked bill to extend tax cuts and boost border and defense spending; two GOP members, Reps. Massie and Spartz, voted no.
The House passed the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act in a 220-208 vote, with four Democrats joining Republicans. The bill mandates proof of U.S. citizenship to register for federal elections and requires states to remove non-citizens from voter rolls.
Senate Republicans, led by Sen. Mike Rounds (R-SD), reintroduced a bill to eliminate the Department of Education, aligning with Trump’s executive order. The measure would dismantle the agency within a year and shift key programs to other federal departments.
Sen. Ted Cruz said Daylight Saving Time was intended to save energy but has instead caused more car accidents, workplace problems, and pushback from farmers who depend on early-morning sunlight.
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) told MSNBC that it's "beyond wild" no one is questioning Donald Trump’s mental fitness to serve.
The Resistance…
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer was unexpectedly brought into the Oval Office during President Trump’s signing event this week, but her office spokesperson emphasized her presence did not signify an endorsement.
Gov. Tim Walz was heckled by veterans at a rally at the Minnesota Capitol over stolen valor claims and alleged sympathy for China. As he opened the “Veterans Day on the Hill” event, attendees shouted “coward” and voiced anger at his past remarks.
The View co-host Sunny Hostin accused Trump of “insider trading,” claiming his Truth Social post urging people to "buy" during a market dip was a coded message to billionaire allies.
Federal judges in New York and Texas have blocked the deportation of Venezuelan men tied to the Tren de Aragua gang, halting the Trump administration’s efforts under the Alien Enemies Act despite a recent Supreme Court ruling allowing the removals.
Despite Trump’s push to cut federal spending, a taxpayer-funded project to develop voice training software for transgender individuals is moving forward. Funded by the NIH, the study will receive $214,998 in FY2025.
At a heated school board meeting in Maine, Board Chair Martha Witham cut off a local parent who wore a MAGA hat and spoke out against trans athletes in girls' sports.
Transgender activists are expressing outrage after a male-only gay nudist camp denied their request to include women in an all-male event, demanding that gay men accept transgender women as men in male-only spaces.
