Today’s Big Story…

The Departments of Energy and Interior, as well as the EPA, announced new actions to "unleash" coal energy following President Trump's executive order to revive “America’s beautiful clean coal industry.”

President Trump signed an executive order to boost the coal industry by cutting red tape. It directs the National Energy Dominance Council to classify coal as a "mineral," end the pause on federal coal leasing, promote coal exports and tech, and support its use in powering AI. The order also tasks the DOJ with targeting state and local regulations Trump calls "unconstitutional" and harmful to coal miners.

"The value of untapped gold in our country is 100 times greater than the value of all the gold at Fort Knox, and we're going to unleash it and make America rich and powerful again under this order," Trump said before signing the order. "Pound for pound, coal is the single most reliable, durable, secure and powerful form of energy. It's cheap, incredibly efficient, high density, and it's almost indestructible. You could drop a bomb on it, and it's going to be there for you to use the next day, which you can't say with any other form of energy."

Another Big Story…

President Trump is imposing a sweeping 104% tariff on all Chinese imports, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced. This sharp increase builds on the previously planned 34% hike under Trump’s “reciprocal” tariff plan, with an added 50% penalty after China refused to withdraw its own retaliatory tariffs. In response, China’s Commerce Ministry condemned the move as “a mistake upon a mistake” and vowed further retaliation.

In addition, Trump says his tariffs have been “somewhat explosive,” saying more than 70 countries have contacted the White House to “make deals.”

My Thoughts…

Glad to see Trump is seeking to deregulate the barriers holding back the industry. Part of getting manufacturing up and running is to get rid of the liberalized policies impacting growth. As for China, all I have to say is it’s about time we call their bluff. Let’s prove they need us more than we need them. A 104% tariff rate is a great way to show them who’s boss, and that’s President Trump.

The Administration…

  • President Trump announced on Truth Social that South Korea had requested a new trade deal. They discussed tariffs, shipbuilding, LNG purchases, a joint Alaska pipeline venture, and resumed military payments—billions that began under Trump’s first term but were ended by Biden for unexplained reasons.

  • Trump also announced plans to impose a major tariff on pharmaceuticals, intending to encourage drug companies to return to the U.S. Trump stated that the large U.S. market would prompt these companies to open plants.

  • At a fundraising dinner in DC, Trump presented the Senate’s budget proposal as perhaps the most crucial bill Republicans can pass before the midterms, saying that pushing it through would result in “a massive victory at the ballot box in 2026.”

  • The Trump administration has frozen more than $1 billion in funding for Cornell and $790 million for Northwestern amid investigations into allegations of antisemitism and racial discrimination stemming from their DEI efforts.

  • DOGE canceled more wasteful spending, totaling $51 million in U.S. grants to the African Development Foundation. Examples include $229,000 to market organic shea butter in Burkina Faso, $240,000 for pineapple juice promotion in Benin, $246,000 for mango drying in the Ivory Coast, and nearly $100,000 to boost yogurt production in Uganda.

  • According to DOGE, Biden issued nearly 4 million Social Security numbers to non-citizens just five months after filing asylum claims in the mail. This was done with no interview, and no ID check. As a result, they can access benefits like Medicaid and get driver’s licenses.

  • DHS Secretary Kristi Noem joined ICE agents in leading a deportation raid in Phoenix, Arizona. About 100 federal agents participated in the early morning operation, which resulted in the capture of three illegal aliens wanted for weapons, drug, and money laundering charges.

  • The DHS and IRS have agreed to let ICE access taxpayer data to help locate illegal aliens facing deportation. A court filing outlined procedures for ICE to request IRS info on criminal aliens who remain in the U.S. 90 days after a final removal order. The acting head of the Internal Revenue Service is reportedly resigning as a result.

  • DHS announced that Illegal aliens who entered the U.S. using the Biden-era CBP One app have had their parole revoked and must leave immediately or face a permanent reentry ban. Nearly 1 million used the app to schedule entries before being paroled.

  • The Supreme Court sided with the Trump administration by allowing the mass firing of tens of thousands of probationary federal employees. The justices ruled that the nine nonprofits challenging the move lacked standing to sue.

  • President Trump has fired Navy Vice Adm. Shoshana Chatfield, the U.S. representative to NATO’s military committee—prompting backlash from Democrats. A combat veteran and former Naval War College president, Chatfield had held the NATO post since December 2023.

  • Defense Sec. Pete Hegseth, who is meeting with leaders in Panama, said the U.S. will reclaim the Panama Canal from “China’s influence,” vowing not to let any nation threaten its operation or integrity. Panama agreed to guarantee “the expedited transit” of U.S. warships and auxiliary vessels through the canal and to find ways to “compensate” the U.S. for the payment of tolls.

  • A judge in Orange County, California, has ruled in favor of Huntington Beach, allowing the city to enforce its voter ID law for local elections despite opposition from the Democrat-led state. Known for defying California’s liberal policies, Huntington Beach has pushed back on COVID mandates, immigration amnesty, and the state's voter ID ban. The town has also hosted big Trump rallies.

  • The DOJ has cut nonessential federal funding to Maine’s Department of Corrections over its housing of Andrew Balcer, a 26-year-old trans-identifying double murderer, in a women’s prison.

  • CNN's Harry Enten called President Trump a “soaring eagle,” not a lame duck, noting that Trump has signed more executive orders at this point in his presidency than any president in the last 100 years.

  • The White House denied rumors of plans for a military parade in Washington on President Trump’s birthday in June, though local officials have contacted the administration about a possible celebration.

  • President Trump planted a new sapling at the White House, calling it a “MAGAnolia” in tribute to his “Make America Great Again” slogan. It replaces the historic Jackson Magnolia, which was removed for safety reasons.

Vice President…

JD Vance stirred tensions with China after calling its people “peasants” during a Fox News interview. Defending the administration’s tariff strategy, Vance criticized the “globalist economy” as harmful to the U.S.

Congress…

House GOP campaign chair Rep. Richard Hudson (R-N.C.) announced the NRCC raised $35.2 million ahead of a fundraising dinner with President Trump. The major haul boosts Republicans as they aim to protect their slim House majority next year.

Rep. Donald Norcross (D-NJ) was hospitalized over the weekend, further weakening Democrats in the House as Leader Hakeem Jeffries struggles to rally support. With two recent Democratic deaths, the GOP now holds a 220-213 edge, and Norcross’s absence adds to the party’s challenges.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Tex.) sparked backlash during a speech at a Connecticut church, claiming the U.S. needs illegal aliens to pick cotton—because, she argued, Black Americans won’t do it. The comment came amid a rant criticizing Trump-era deportations.

Despite the Trump endorsement, former GOP Gov. Chris Sununu said he won’t run for Senate in 2026, passing on a key New Hampshire seat Republicans hope to flip.

Meanwhile, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced a 2026 Senate run to challenge fellow Republican Sen. John Cornyn, who’s held the seat since 2002. Paxton called Cornyn’s 22-year tenure “too long” and aims to unseat him in the GOP primary.

The Resistance…

  1. In 2025, ABC News’ "The View" offered a staggering lack of balance during the first three months, with 63 left-leaning guests and zero conservatives.

  2. Pro-Palestine protesters flooded Grand Central Station during Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s White House visit. The demonstration began at the U.N. and moved to Midtown. NYC residents, frustrated by the disruptions, threw garbage at the protesters.

  3. After the Supreme Court sided with President Trump, U.S. District Judge James Boasberg canceled a planned hearing on the administration’s use of a 1798 wartime law to deport Venezuelan nationals.

  4. Nicholas John Roske, 29, of California, pleaded guilty to attempting to kill Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh over abortion and gun rights rulings. He admitted flying to D.C. in June 2022 with a gun and ammo to carry out the attack, the DOJ confirmed.

  5. Leftists are slamming "Full House" star John Stamos, who defended his appearance at Mar-a-Lago, saying it wasn’t political but in support of a cause he believes in. The 61-year-old said he emceed the Palm Beach Ray of Hope Gala to honor frontline heroes.

  6. A senior Diplomatic Security Service agent assigned to Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s protective detail was arrested in Brussels after a hotel dispute escalated into a fight with police. The incident occurred at Hotel Amigo, where Rubio later stayed during the NATO foreign ministers meeting.

  7. Federal prosecutors revealed that Ryan Routh, accused of plotting to assassinate President Trump, tried to acquire military-grade weapons—including a rocket launcher—from a Ukrainian contact. According to court documents, Routh said, “I need equipment so that Trump cannot get elected,” and asked if weapons could be shipped to him.

  8. A federal judge ordered the White House to allow The Associated Press back into smaller events, such as those in the Oval Office and aboard Air Force One.

  9. Gov. Newsom of California is suing the Trump Administration after millions of dollars in grants to state libraries were abruptly terminated.

Your Opinions & Questions…

Terri: Regarding the article on illegal aliens on Medicaid, I've worked in Insurance verification for 25 years. Those who come here without proper paperwork are "assigned" a birthday. Either January 1 or July 1. That is how I know they have come here illegally. I cannot count the people in the system dating back to when I began this career. It's unfathomable and no wonder our system is broken.
