Day 79
Trump gets SCOTUS victory; DOGE uncovers immigration fraud
Today’s Big Story…
President Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, fielding a wide range of questions from reporters. Netanyahu was largely quiet during the Oval Office exchange, with Trump dominating the conversation. The meeting covered tensions over trade, Iran policy, and regional security dynamics, as well as a new ceasefire deal in the works between Israel and Hamas to seek the release of the remaining hostages held in Gaza.
More specifically, Trump announced that the U.S. would begin direct high-level talks with Iran this week over its nuclear weapons program. Trump warned Iran would be “in great danger” if negotiations fail, while Netanyahu pushed for U.S. approval of a military strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Netanyahu also voiced concern over Turkey’s radical Islamic influence, reiterated that Iran should abandon its nuclear ambitions, and urged Trump to lift newly imposed 17 percent tariffs on Israeli goods.
Trump appeared open to linking U.S. military aid to Israel—which is $4 billion annually—to progress in trade talks. Netanyahu pledged to reduce Israel’s trade deficit with the U.S. and remove barriers to avoid further tariffs. Despite this, Trump said he wouldn’t pause the tariffs and threatened to increase tariffs on China.
Another Big Story…
According to Antonio Gracias, head of DOGE’s border team, massive amounts of illegal aliens are claiming billions in U.S. benefits, including Medicaid.
He reported that about 1.3 million non-citizens are currently enrolled in Medicaid, costing an estimated $6.5 billion. The number had previously surged from 400,000 in 2021 to over two million by 2024.
The revelation followed an investigation by Gracias and his team into the sharp rise in non-citizens receiving Social Security numbers. While some are legal immigrants on visas and green cards who pay taxes, many are illegal aliens receiving maximum benefits with minimal repayment.
Gracias blamed the Biden administration’s open border policies and expansive asylum programs for the surge in illegal crossings, noting that many illegals were released with court dates set up to six years out under Notices to Appear (NTAs). He said Social Security numbers were issued to asylum seekers with little vetting—many lacked proper ID, and 23% had no fingerprint records whatsoever.
My Thoughts…
I’m glad to hear Trump is keeping the tariffs in place. While Israel touts the claim to be our greatest ally, we give them billions every year — way more so than other countries, with the exception of Ukraine. And yet, they had insane tariff percentages placed on the U.S. Trump’s Liberation Day tactic is a wake-up call to many: labeling yourself as a U.S. ally but not treating us as such will come with consequences. Just ask Canada.
Also glad to see DOGE continues to shine a spotlight on the corruption plaguing U.S. agencies. Why is Medicaid access permitted to illegal aliens? We really need DOGE now more than ever. Even if their cancellations aren’t approved, they’re putting the hidden abuse on full display to the public. Let’s keep it going!
Trump Tariffs are smart, and great for the economy, national security, and longevity of USA. The people like Ben Shapiro who tell you differently, are the same people who told you to take the jab.

Trump threatened a 50% tariff hike on China unless it drops its 34% retaliatory duties on U.S. imports. In a Truth Social post, he gave Beijing until Tuesday (today) to comply or face canceled trade talks.
EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the bloc has proposed a “zero-for-zero tariff” deal on industrial goods to avoid a trade war with the U.S. While criticizing Trump’s reciprocal tariffs, she and other EU leaders signaled openness to negotiations as market pressure mounts.
U.S. buyers are halting orders from Bangladesh after Trump imposed steep new tariffs, raising duties on cotton products from 16% to 37%. Bangladesh, the world’s second-largest garment producer, relies on textiles for 80% of its exports.
Homeland Security confirmed that DOGE helped the U.S. Coast Guard save $32.7 million by cutting the ineffective Logistics Information Management System (CG-LIMS).
In a major victory for Trump, the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that it can use the 1798 Alien Enemies Act to deport illegal aliens linked to Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua gang. The decision overturns a prior order by Judge Boasberg, who had forced two deportation flights to return to the U.S. Justice Amy Coney Barrett joining the three liberal justices in dissent.
Additionally, Chief Justice Roberts temporarily blocked a judge’s order requiring the U.S. to return a deported Salvadoran national. He issued an “administrative stay” to allow the Supreme Court time to review the case.
Five Minnesota sheriff’s offices—Cass, Crow Wing, Freeborn, Itasca, and Jackson—have signed 287(g) agreements with ICE, allowing them to assist in immigration enforcement. The move contrasts with the state’s broader sanctuary policies and aligns with Trump-era immigration priorities.
Comedian Bill Maher, long a critic of President Trump, praised the president on his podcast for having a unique appeal that most politicians lack. Maher recently met with Trump at the White House.

Stock futures are pointing to a higher opening, and a good day on Wall St.
Vice President…
JD Vance celebrated his mother, Beverly Aikins, at the White House, honoring her 10 years of sobriety. Surrounded by friends and family in the Roosevelt Room, she was applauded and given a medallion. Vance has spoken publicly about her past heroin addiction in his memoir Hillbilly Elegy and during the 2024 vice-presidential debate.
Congress…
House Republicans are moving forward with two Trump-backed bills this week after Speaker Mike Johnson resolved a dispute with Rep. Anna Paulina Luna over remote voting for new parents. The House will vote on the SAVE Act by Rep. Chip Roy, requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote, and the NORRA Act by Rep. Darrell Issa, which would limit district judges from issuing nationwide blocks on Trump policies.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was photographed flying first-class to a Bernie Sanders rally last month, drawing criticism for battling inequality “one mimosa at a time.” A fellow passenger snapped the photo on JetBlue Flight 511 from JFK to Las Vegas on March 19, where AOC spoke at a “Fighting Oligarchy” event.
The Senate voted 53-39 to advance Elbridge Colby, President Trump’s nominee for Defense under secretary for policy at the Pentagon.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune said a bipartisan bill to limit President Trump’s tariff authority is unlikely to move forward, citing Trump’s veto threat. The bill was backed by seven GOP senators and sponsored by Sens. Chuck Grassley.
Thailand: Phitsanulok Provincial Court denied bail for Dr. Paul Chambers, an American academic and lecturer at Naresuan University, who is facing charges of royal defamation under Section 112 of the Criminal Code and violations of the Computer Crime Act. The court cited Chambers' status as a foreigner and the severity of the potential punishment as reasons for denying bail, expressing concerns that he might flee if released.
House Democrats have conducted their first hearing referred to as a 'shadow government' session. The purpose of this hearing was to conduct oversight and serve as a check and balance on Trump’s power, as stated by the participants.

In response to President Trump’s tariffs, China is tightening export controls on rare earth minerals—critical for electronics and batteries.
