Day 75
As markets react, Trump fires 6 officials
Today’s Big Story…
Aboard Air Force One en route to Mar-a-Lago for the weekend, President Trump addressed reporters regarding the recent implementation of his "Liberation Day" tariffs, and likened the tariffs to a surgical operation.
Trump projected that the tariffs would bring "six or seven trillion dollars" into the U.S. economy and predicted a subsequent market boom. Despite these optimistic projections, the stock market experienced significant declines following the tariff announcements. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped nearly 1,700 points, marking its worst day since 2020, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq also saw substantial losses. Nonetheless, the Trump administration remains steadfast, promoting the tariffs as a step toward U.S. economic independence and a means to reduce national debt.
Canada’s new prime minister said Trump’s tariffs have spurred the global economy into something that is fundamentally different today than it was yesterday. He claimed, that the system of global trade anchored on the United States, is over. Canada’s old relationship of steadily deepening integration with the United States is over. The 80 year period when the United States embraced the mantle of economic leadership is over. And while this is a tragedy, he says, it is also the new reality.
Another Big Story…
President Trump fired six National Security Council officials following an Oval Office meeting with internet journalist Laura Loomer, who reportedly displayed proof of their disloyalty by their alleged actions of leaking intel to the media.
Reportedly, Loomer brought extensive opposition research and criticized the six officials as traitorous in front of Trump, National Security Adviser Michael Waltz, Vice President JD Vance, Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Personnel Director Sergio Gor, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and Rep. Scott Perry.
Media outlets have identified three of the six staffers who were fired: Brian Walsh, a director for intelligence and a former top staffer for now-Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the Senate Intelligence Committee; Thomas Boodry, a senior director for legislative affairs who formerly served as Waltz’s legislative director in Congress; and David Feith, a senior director for technology and national security matters who served in the State Department during Trump’s first term. Deputy National Security Adviser Alex Wong, the identified individual behind Signalgate, was not fired amongst those dismissed by the president.
My Thoughts…
Trump’s analogy is spot on. The country has been ill with mismanagement, debt, and insecurity. The president is changing that with his Liberation Day tariffs. The markets might be down, but I say hold steady, buy the dips, and let’s see how prosperity looks in a few months.
Laura Loomer is a controversial figure who has run and lost twice for US Congress. The media is ripping her to shreds, which is why Trump will give her more attention. If her investigation helped Trump weed out traitors in his administration, fantastic! I guess the question becomes, how did Chief of Staff Susie Wiles miss this? And how did her meeting become public knowledge?
As for Canada’s Carney, he is an idiot.

Vice President…
JD Vance sat with Fox & Friends and stated that President Trump is steering the U.S. economy in a new direction by implementing tariffs aimed at revitalizing domestic manufacturing and reducing reliance on foreign imports. He acknowledged that while these measures might cause short-term economic challenges, they are essential for long-term growth and stability. Vance also praised the DOGE's efforts to streamline federal operations, emphasizing that these initiatives are designed to benefit American workers and industries.

Democratic officials from 19 states have filed a lawsuit challenging an executive order issued by President Donald Trump aimed at reshaping U.S. elections.
