Day 71
Trump's final warning to Iran
Today’s Big Story…
President Trump’s letter to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, seeking talks on ending Tehran’s nuclear weapons program, has been rejected. Despite the snub, Trump said U.S. and Iranian officials are still “talking” but warned the regime of potential consequences. He told NBC News the following: “If they don’t make a deal, there will be bombing. But there’s a chance that if they don’t make a deal, that I will do secondary tariffs on them like I did four years ago.”
Trump had also said earlier this weekend: “Iran is very high on my list of things to watch… We’re going to either have to talk and talk it out, or very bad things are going to happen to Iran — and I don’t want that to happen… my big preference is, we work it out with Iran.”
According to the Associated Press, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that his country’s response, delivered via the sultanate of Oman, left open the potential of indirect negotiations with Washington.
Another Big Story…
The Wisconsin Supreme Court unanimously rejected a last-minute bid by the state attorney general to block Elon Musk from giving away $1 million checks as incentives for residents to sign a petition.
The decision came just before Musk’s America PAC town hall in Green Bay last night, where he gave the checks to two voters who signed a petition opposing activist judges.
"The reason for the checks is that, it's really just to get attention," Musk joked while holding a gigantic check. "It's like, we need to get attention….somewhat inevitably, when I do this….it causes the legacy media to, like, kind of lose their minds."
ALSO: Third term: President Trump said in an interview with NBC’s Kristen Welker on Sunday that he was “not joking” about possibly seeking a third term, which would run afoul of the 22nd Amendment.
My Thoughts…
The Iranians are talking tough and showcasing an incredible amount of confidence. This means they have nukes ready to go, and we just don’t know it — OR — they do not fear Trump. Meaning, they do not believe he will bomb them. I believe its the latter. As for the Trump third-term, how about we get this second term working perfectly — then we can worry about upending the Constitution. It is, however, a great way for Trump to rattle the media.

The Administration…
Amid the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown, a growing number of illegal aliens are now self deporting to avoid legal deportation and its consequences.
President Trump offered his strongest comments to date on Russia and its president, Vladimir V. Putin, threatening to impose “secondary tariffs” on nations that buy its oil if the Kremlin thwarts a peace deal in Ukraine. He directed a similar threat at Iran.
Ahead of President Trump’s plan to impose sweeping tariffs across the globe this week, his administration is weighing a new round of emergency aid to farmers, who are likely to be caught in the middle if America’s trading partners retaliate.
Senior Trade Advisor Peter Navarro said that the U.S. auto tariffs would raise about $100 billion, which would translate to tax credits for people who buy American cars, and other tariffs would raise $600 billion per year that would allow for a tax cut on middle-class and blue-collar Americans.
White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles said Trump’s second term has “hit the ground running” in its first 100 days. In her debut interview, Wiles called herself key to “keeping the trains on the tracks.”
The White House Correspondents’ Association announced it has dropped anti-Trump comedian Amber Ruffin as headliner for next month’s annual dinner. WHCA President Eugene Daniels said the board unanimously opted to cancel her act as part of a “re-envisioning” of tradition.
President Trump announced a deal with law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom to provide at least $100 million in pro bono legal services during and after his administration.
President Trump said Ukrainian President Zelenskyy is attempting to withdraw from a rare earth agreement with the U.S., warning that if he does, “he’s going to have some problems.”
President Trump played a round of golf with Alexander Stubb, the president of Finland. Trump posted about acquiring more icebreakers from Finland.
Trump announced plans to remove a tree near the White House entrance, reportedly planted by former President Andrew Jackson, calling it a safety hazard in poor condition.
Elon Musk’s AI firm xAI has acquired his social media platform X in an all-stock deal valuing X at $33 billion. Musk said the move merges xAI’s advanced AI with X’s vast reach, valuing xAI at $80 billion.
A D.C. appeals court gave the Trump administration a temporary win by overturning rulings that ordered the reinstatement of National Labor Relations Board’s Gwynne Wilcox and Merit Systems Protection Board’s Cathy Harris.
The Trump administration fired nearly all staff at the U.S. Institute of Peace—between 200 and 300 employees—after ousting its president and replacing him with a DOGE appointee. Staff were offered severance and a month of health coverage in exchange for waiving their right to sue.
A federal appeals court granted the Trump administration’s motion to extend a stay, allowing DOGE to continue operating at USAID.
The full two-part Fox News interview featuring Musk and seven members of the DOGE team is now available online, where they reveal widespread fraud, waste, and abuse uncovered in the U.S. government.
Vice President…
JD Vance has been tasked with slashing funding for exhibits or programs that promote “ideologies inconsistent with Federal law and policy” at the Smithsonian Museum. This includes ideologies that promote transgenderism, and ones that “degrade shared American values” or “divide Americans based on race.”
Congress…
Filmmaker Oliver Stone, known for his political thriller JFK, will testify Tuesday before a House committee on the release of new documents related to John F. Kennedy Jr.’s assassination.
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) urged Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts to “rein in the judges” who have issued rulings obstructing parts of President Trump’s agenda.
Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) claimed that Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and CIA Director John Ratcliffe “repeatedly lied” about messages exchanged in a Signal group chat where senior Trump administration officials discussed a strike on Yemen.
Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.) said he supports an investigation into the Trump administration’s use of Signal for official communications but stopped short of demanding Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s resignation, calling such a move “overkill.”
Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) commented on the U.S.-Canada relationship amid ongoing trade tensions, asserting that the two nations remain allies.
The House GOP leadership plans to use the House Rules Committee today to quash Rep. Anna Paulina Luna’s (R-Fla.) discharge petition authorizing proxy voting for new and expectant mothers. This is Speaker Mike Johnson trying to circumvent the will of the majority of the House. If he succeeds, it’s an example of the speaker using the enormous power afforded to him to thwart a loyal rank-and-file member. If Johnson fails, it’ll be an embarrassment.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune told Republicans during a closed-door meeting that he wants to get going on a compromise budget resolution as soon as this week. This is a key step in unlocking Trump’s agenda.
The Resistance…
Leonel Moreno, the viral “migrant influencer” who flaunted U.S. cash handouts and urged illegal aliens to occupy abandoned homes, has been deported to Venezuela. Despite being welcomed back by Venezuelan officials, Moreno reportedly caused disruptions during the flight.
The New Mexico GOP headquarters in Albuquerque was damaged over the weekend in a suspected arson attack, with "ICE=KKK" spray-painted on the building. The state Republican Party called it “a deliberate act fueled by hatred and intolerance.”
Comedy Central host Jon Stewart was left “speechless” after NYT columnist Ezra Klein explained the 14-step process behind the Biden administration’s $40 billion rural broadband plan—which, three years after the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law passed, has yet to launch a single project.
Los Angeles has approved only four permits to rebuild homes damaged in the January wildfires that scorched around 7,000 properties in Pacific Palisades.
Speaking of California — Comedy influencer Robby Witt criticized the state’s lawmakers over laws adding new fees and confusing insurance rules for first responders. He said his daughter’s ambulance bill doubled after showing proof of insurance, blaming AB 716, which grants discounts only to the uninsured.
Despite resistance from leftist council members, Seattle Council member Rob Saka introduced Resolution 32167 to formally end the city’s commitments to defund the police, made after George Floyd’s 2020 death.
Spring breakers are being mocked online after struggling to answer basic U.S. citizenship test questions in a viral video by conservative influencer Kaitlin Bennett. One participant claimed Asia borders Canada; another said the Pentagon is square. Critics say the footage highlights the failure of the U.S. education system.
The United States will not take control of Greenland, the island’s new prime minister said on Sunday in response to President Trump’s latest assertion that he wants to annex the territory.
On March 29, protesters gathered outside a Tesla store in Manhattan, blocking access and displaying signs that called for violence against Elon Musk and Tesla property. Elon Musk responded on social media, alleging that these protesters were paid and accusing them of engaging in illegal activities such as shooting at Tesla stores and arson. Musk also stated that there are no cuts to social programs, emphasizing that only fraud prevention measures are in place. Additionally, Musk indicated that those funding and organizing calls for his death would be prosecuted, though he did not provide specifics on the ongoing legal actions or protester affiliations.
Recent data indicates that the number of Social Security numbers issued to non-citizens has increased significantly, from 270,000 in 2021 to 2.1 million in 2024. Non-citizens can legally obtain Social Security numbers through pathways such as asylum claims and work authorization documents, which allows them access to benefit programs like Medicaid. There have been reports of investigations into potential fraud related to these issuances, with some cases being referred to authorities for prosecution.
Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) is being touted as the possible new face of the Democrat Party. In his third term as a US Senator, the 51-year-old is hitting the road, traveling to meet with voters to test a 2028 presidential bid.
