Today’s Big Story…

The White House confirmed President Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), a condition that affects blood flow in the legs and hands.

Photos of Trump at the FIFA Club World Cup final in New Jersey showed swelling in his lower body, while earlier images revealed bruising on his right hand. Responding to online speculation, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that Trump had undergone a thorough evaluation by the White House medical team. She noted that while doctors found no signs of heart failure, kidney issues, or systemic illness, they did confirm the CVI diagnosis. A full medical memo will be released for transparency.

“Venous Doppler ultrasounds were performed and revealed chronic venous insufficiency, a benign and common condition, particularly in individuals over the age of 70. Importantly, there was no evidence of deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease,” Leavitt told reporters.

Leavitt acknowledged the media speculation over bruising on President Trump’s hand and swelling in his legs, noting that photos showing makeup on his hand had circulated online. She said the bruising was consistent with minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking and Trump's use of aspirin for cardiovascular prevention.

Another Big Story…

The White House confirmed that President Trump does not support appointing a special prosecutor to investigate the Jeffrey Epstein case.

However, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told the press pool that Trump supports releasing any new credible evidence that may arise, as pressure for transparency grows in Congress. Calls for a special counsel have come from conservative figures, including Laura Loomer and Steve Bannon, who argue the DOJ and FBI are overwhelmed and the case deserves an independent review.

Following Leavitt’s presser, The Wall Street Journal released an alleged 2003 birthday letter to Jeffrey Epstein written and signed with Donald Trump’s name. Compiled by Ghislaine Maxwell, the letter was among the materials reviewed by the Justice Department during earlier investigations into Epstein and Maxwell. The letter reportedly features typewritten text framed by the outline of a naked woman, with Trump’s signature—“Donald”—placed below her waist, mimicking pubic hair. The letter allegedly ends with the following signoff: “Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret.”

Trump denied he wrote it in an interview with the Journal prior to publication, releasing the following statement: “This is not me. This is a fake thing. It’s a fake Wall Street Journal story. I never wrote a picture in my life. I don’t draw pictures of women. It’s not my language. It’s not my words.”

Additionally, in a Truth Social post following the WSJ publication of the story, Trump wrote, “Based on the ridiculous amount of publicity given to Jeffrey Epstein, I have asked Attorney General Pam Bondi to produce any and all pertinent Grand Jury testimony, subject to Court approval. This SCAM, perpetuated by the Democrats, should end, right now!

The Administration…

  1. President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelenskyy are considering a deal in which the U.S. would purchase Ukrainian drones in exchange for Kyiv acquiring American weapons as a boost to both nations' aerial capabilities.

  2. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum visited Alcatraz as part of a plan to reopen the former federal prison.

  3. A new order requires Interior Secretary Burgum to personally approve all solar and wind projects on federal lands and waters, giving him authority over leases, construction plans, permits, and environmental reviews.

  4. White House border czar Tom Homan said the Trump administration is considering changes to immigration enforcement that would affect farm and hospitality workers, with a possible announcement expected soon.

  5. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced the termination of $4 billion in unused federal funds for California’s high-speed rail project, citing 16 years of failure, no finished track, and soaring costs.

  6. As President Trump aims to make the U.S. the “crypto capital of the world,” a bipartisan stablecoin regulation bill has passed the Senate and is now headed to his desk.

  7. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that Children’s Hospital Los Angeles’ Transyouth Center is shutting down, and Phoenix Children’s has halted puberty blockers and hormone therapy for minors. More hospitals are scaling back youth gender care following Trump’s executive order.

  8. Donald Trump Jr.-backed gun retailer GrabAGun went public on the NYSE, with Trump Jr. stating the move pushes back against anti-gun “woke” policies and supports Second Amendment rights.

Vice President…

JD Vance mocked a New York Times op-ed by a former Biden official on immigration reform and slammed the Wall Street Journal for publishing claims that Trump wrote a lewd 2003 birthday letter to Jeffrey Epstein.

Congress…

THE HOUSE

House Oversight Committee investigators will interview former White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre behind closed doors in September, along with three other ex-Biden officials: Ian Sams, Andrew Bates, and Jeff Zients.

Rep. Dave Taylor (R-OH) is introducing the Make American Guns Again (MAGA) Act, calling on Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to study foreign-made weapons and parts used by the military. The bill aims to ensure all U.S. military firearms are made in America by American-owned companies.

Reps. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) and Rudy Yakym (R-IN) are introducing a bipartisan resolution to condemn the phrase “globalize the intifada” after NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani declined to denounce it publicly.

Eric Conroy, a U.S. Air Force veteran and former CIA case officer, announced his bid for Ohio’s 1st Congressional District seat as Republican candidate.

THE SENATE

The Republican-led Senate passed a $9 billion spending cut package after 13 hours of amendment votes. The bill, which now moves to the House, slashes previously approved funding for foreign aid and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats walked out of a meeting just before a vote advancing Trump judicial nominee Emil Bove, after Chairman Chuck Grassley refused Sen. Cory Booker’s request to delay the vote and consider whistleblower allegations. Grassley declined to recognize Rule 4, prompting the walkout.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) reintroduced legislation to officially designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization.

Sen. Tina Smith (D-MN), 67, was hospitalized overnight at George Washington University Hospital for observation after feeling unwell at the Capitol. She has no known health issues aside from a history of depression.

The Resistance…

  1. Dr. Francis Collins, a former ally of Dr. Fauci, told Stephen Colbert that more censorship is needed to combat “dangerous” free speech and rebuild public trust following the COVID-19 fallout.

  2. Ironically, Colbert and CBS announced that The Late Show will conclude in May 2026, with CBS retiring the franchise, citing a “purely financial decision.”

  3. Joy Reid accused Piers Morgan of ambushing her during a recent interview, calling him “obsessed” with race-baiting to appeal to his “very White audience.” On her podcast, Reid criticized Morgan for bringing up her MSNBC firing and labeling her a race-baiter.

  4. The View co-host Sunny Hostin has shifted her stance on the Epstein files, now calling for Ghislaine Maxwell to testify about the alleged client list, despite opposing the release of names in January 2024.

  5. Riley Gaines has sharply criticized President Trump for refusing to release the Jeffrey Epstein files, accusing him of hypocrisy.

  6. Comedian Shane Gillis shocked the ESPYs crowd with a Jeffrey Epstein joke aimed at President Trump, voicing: “Donald Trump wants to stage a UFC fight on the White House lawn. The last time he staged a fight in D.C., Mike Pence almost died. There was supposed to be an Epstein joke here but I guess it got deleted. Probably deleted itself, right? Probably never existed, actually. Let’s move on as a country and ignore that.

  7. A D.C. federal judge ruled against the Trump administration’s firing of FTC member Rebecca Slaughter, who, along with fellow Democrat Alvaro Bedoya, was removed from the commission in March.

  8. NYC socialist mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani is under fire after a clip surfaced of him saying he could take time off work thanks to his parents' financial support. Critics argue it highlights his privileged background and contradicts his taxpayer-funded socialist stance.

  9. The release of a twice-deported Guatemalan rapist in Virginia is drawing renewed scrutiny of Democrat-led sanctuary policies. David Cabrera was arrested by ICE after Arlington County, a sanctuary jurisdiction, ignored a federal detainer and released him without notification.

  10. An ICE agent in Oklahoma was dragged nearly a block by 34-year-old Honduran national Jose Melgar-Rivas, who tried to flee federal custody. He now faces charges for assaulting and injuring a federal officer.

  11. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi voiced support for Iran’s “national sovereignty and dignity” following a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi.
