Today’s Big Story…

In a fiery Truth Social post, President Trump accused Democrat Sen. Adam Schiff of “mortgage fraud” and called for his prosecution.

In 2009, Adam Schiff claimed a $7,000 homeowner’s tax exemption on a Burbank condo by listing it as his primary residence, while also designating his Maryland home as a primary residence from 2009 to 2019—despite California law requiring the exemption to be for one’s fixed and permanent home.

In response, President Trump called "Shifty Adam Schiff" a "crook" and a "scam artist," accusing him of a "pattern of possible mortgage fraud." He claimed Schiff falsely declared his Maryland home as his primary residence to secure better mortgage terms, despite being required to live in California as a congressman. Trump said the alleged fraud began with a 2009 refinance and continued until the home was finally labeled a second residence in 2020, writing, “Mortgage Fraud is very serious, and CROOKED Adam Schiff (now a Senator) needs to be brought to justice.”

Schiff responded to Trump’s statement with the following X post: “Since I led his first impeachment, Trump has repeatedly called for me to be arrested for treason. So in a way, I guess this is a bit of a letdown. And this baseless attempt at political retribution won’t stop me from holding him accountable. Not by a long shot. This is just Donald Trump’s latest attempt at political retaliation against his perceived enemies. So it is not a surprise, only how weak this false allegation turns out to be. And much as Trump may hope, this smear will not distract from his Epstein files problem.”

Another Big Story…

President Trump announced a new trade agreement with Indonesia, finalized following direct negotiations with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.

The deal imposes a 19% tariff on Indonesian exports to the U.S., a reduction from the previously threatened 32% tariff set to take effect on August 1. In contrast, U.S. exports to Indonesia will face no tariffs, granting American goods full access to Indonesia’s market of over 280 million consumers.

Indonesia has committed to purchasing $15 billion in U.S. energy, $4.5 billion in American agricultural products, and 50 Boeing jets, including many 777s. This agreement aims to address the U.S. trade deficit with Indonesia, which reached $17.9 billion in 2024. The deal follows similar trade frameworks with Vietnam, the UK, and China.

The Administration…

  1. U.S. tariff revenues hit a record $113 billion this fiscal year, fueled by Trump’s new tariffs on major economies. June alone saw $27 billion collected—up 301% from the same period a year earlier—with sharp increases from January to April, and strong July figures are expected.

  2. President Trump voiced support for Attorney General Pam Bondi, saying she handled the Jeffrey Epstein files “very well.” He told reporters that Bondi briefed him on a DOJ memo he claimed was fabricated by James Comey and Barack Obama.

  3. After securing a new NATO deal to arm Ukraine, President Trump warned President Zelensky against striking Moscow directly. Trump and NATO chief Mark Rutte announced the U.S. would sell weapons to allies for Ukraine, but Trump confirmed long-range missiles won’t be included.

  4. Melania Trump won praise from Ukrainians after President Trump said she helped persuade him to boost support for Ukraine. People in Kyiv celebrated the Slovenia-born First Lady, viewing her as a fellow Slav standing with their nation.

  5. The Trump administration is withdrawing 2,000 National Guard troops from Los Angeles, a month after deploying them in response to protests over increased immigration enforcement.

  6. Secretary Pete Hegseth withdrew top Pentagon officials from the Aspen Security Conference, citing its promotion of “the evil of globalism” and “hatred for the President.”

  7. President Trump announced that he had reached a deal with most House Republicans, who had earlier blocked a procedural vote, clearing the way for three cryptocurrency bills to move forward. He met with 11 of the 12 dissenting Republicans to resolve the standoff.

  8. David Sacks, Trump’s AI and crypto adviser, urged Elon Musk to drop his third-party push and pursue his goals through the GOP, adding he hopes Musk mends ties with Trump.

  9. Home Depot co-founder Ken Langone admitted he was wrong about Trump’s tariff policy, saying he’s now “sold” on the president.

  10. The White House released an interactive map showing state-by-state savings Americans can expect under Trump’s One Big, Beautiful Bill Act, highlighting the financial benefits compared to what would have been if the bill hadn’t passed.

Vice President…

JD Vance cast the tie-breaking vote as the Senate advanced Trump’s plan to cut $9 billion in foreign aid and public broadcasting funds, passing 51-50 despite GOP defections from Senators Collins, Murkowski, and McConnell.

Congress…

THE HOUSE

House Speaker Mike Johnson said he supports releasing the Jeffrey Epstein files, despite the administration’s claim that no client list exists. On a podcast with Benny Johnson, he called for more White House transparency and said he’s open to having Ghislaine Maxwell testify before Congress.

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) said he’ll attempt a procedural move to force a vote requiring the DOJ to release the Epstein files. The effort comes amid GOP criticism of the Trump administration’s handling of the case and attempts to downplay the issue.

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), a Trump ally, called for a special counsel to investigate the handling of the Epstein files.

President Trump, during a brief exchange with the press, took aim at Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), suggesting the two Democrats should take an IQ test.

THE SENATE

Senate Republicans are revising President Trump’s proposed $9.4 billion in spending cuts, agreeing to remove $400 million in cuts to PEPFAR, the Bush-era HIV/AIDS program.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said he will reissue his criminal referral of Dr. Anthony Fauci to the Trump DOJ, adding another twist to the Biden autopen controversy.

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) plans to request thousands of emails from the Biden administration's final days as part of his investigation into Biden’s alleged cognitive decline. He plans to ask the National Archives for records on how Biden’s team handled pardons and clemency.

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) is introducing the Constitutional Citizenship Clarification Act to end birthright citizenship for children of illegal aliens.

Sen. David McCormick (R-PA) hosted President Trump at the inaugural Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit at Carnegie Mellon University to discuss innovations in AI.

The Resistance…

  1. Kamala Harris leads the 2028 Democratic primary field with 26% support, despite her 2024 loss to Trump, according to a new Echelon Insights poll. Pete Buttigieg and Gavin Newsom followed with 11% and 10%.

  2. President Trump’s disapproval rating has climbed to 55%—the highest since his second term began—while 41% approve, according to a new Economist/YouGov poll.

  3. Fed Chair Jerome Powell has requested an inspector general review of the $2.5 billion headquarters renovation, pushing back against Trump’s criticism over cost overruns amid their interest rate clash.

  4. Deja Foxx, a 25-year-old influencer and progressive activist, is the youngest of five candidates in a Democratic primary to replace the late Rep. Raul Grijalva of Arizona, aiming for a surprise win like Zohran Mamdani’s.

  5. Podcaster Andrew Schulz went viral for blasting President Trump over his failure to release Jeffrey Epstein’s client list, opening the episode by slamming the administration’s handling of the scandal.

  6. Whoopi Goldberg stunned her co-hosts and audience on The View with a sharp rebuke of former President Obama over his private fundraiser remarks urging Democrats to stop “whining.”

  7. A Cal State Channel Islands professor was arrested for allegedly throwing a tear gas canister at ICE agents during last week’s raid on a cannabis farm.

  8. A CBP spokesman confirmed five Iranians and two Uzbekistanis were arrested trying to illegally cross the U.S.-Canada border near Swanton, Vermont, part of the Champlain Station.
