Day 174
Texas, Tragedy & Turnover
Today’s Big Story…
President Trump and First Lady Melania visited Kerrville, Texas, to survey the damage and speak with victims of the catastrophic floods.
After landing in San Antonio, they flew by helicopter to meet with first responders and witness the devastation firsthand. The First Lady offered condolences to those who lost loved ones, sharing that she had just met with many of them. During a roundtable with Gov. Greg Abbott, Melania showed a bracelet given to her by girls at Camp Mystic, honoring those killed in the flash flood. She also promised to return and meet with the families again.
“My deepest sympathy to all of the parents who lost beautiful young souls … We are grieving with you. Our nation is grieving with you,” stated the First Lady.
Officials announced that at least 121 people have died in the July 4 flash floods, with over 170 still missing. Most victims were from Kerr County, where 96 died, including 36 children. Among them were 27 girls from Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp near the river.
Moments ago: @FLOTUS shared her heart with everyone grieving after the Texas flood disaster saying...
"My deepest sympathy to all of the parents who lost beautiful, young souls. Deepest sympathy from all of us to the community—to everyone who lost a loved one—we are grieving

Another Big Story…
Recent reports indicate that FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino are considering resigning due to tensions with Attorney General Pam Bondi over the handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files.
The conflict escalated after a heated confrontation at a White House meeting, where Bongino reportedly clashed with Bondi over her management of the case, leading him to take a day off amid speculation of his departure. Sources suggest both Patel and Bongino are frustrated with Bondi’s perceived lack of transparency, particularly after the DOJ and FBI jointly announced no further Epstein files, including a rumored client list, would be released.
Bondi’s earlier claims of having an Epstein client list on her desk, later clarified as referring to general files, have fueled criticism from Trump supporters and calls for her removal. Some insiders and right-wing commentators argue that Bondi’s handling has damaged public trust, with Patel and Bongino reportedly threatening to quit if she remains in her role.
However, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche has denied any rift between the FBI and DOJ leadership, asserting unity remains in the administration. The situation remains fluid, with no official confirmation of resignations as of this weekend, and some administration officials insist Patel and Bondi plan to stay, though less certainty with Bongino.

Weekend News
The DOJ released nearly 11 hours of “raw” surveillance footage from near Jeffrey Epstein’s cell to counter suicide conspiracy theories—but experts say it was edited. Metadata reviewed by WIRED and forensics analysts shows the video was modified using Adobe Premiere Pro and compiled from multiple clips before being posted to the DOJ website.
Trump administration official Bill Pulte, who’s the Federal Housing Finance Agency Director, hinted that Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell may be considering resignation. Pulte referenced unspecified reports in a statement on X and the agency’s website.
The White House is intensifying efforts to block illegal aliens from accessing over 15 federal aid programs, part of a broader push to cut government waste.
EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin released a facts page debunking conspiracy theories about “chemtrails,” including claims of weather manipulation. In a video message, Zeldin said the goal is to inform anyone who’s ever looked at sky streaks and wondered, “What the heck is going on?”
At Florida’s new immigration detention center, nicknamed “Alligator Alcatraz” and recently visited by President Trump and Gov. DeSantis, detainees say swarms of giant mosquitoes are a constant threat. One described them as “the size of elephants,” and experts claim infestation poses public health risks.
The number of police officers killed in the line of duty has dropped by 53% nationwide so far this year, according to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. Analysts credit improved training and a shift away from anti-police sentiment under President Trump.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom is trying to distance himself from a federal lawsuit over transgender athletes in girls’ sports, despite previously calling the practice “deeply unfair.”
Graham Farrar, president of Glass House Farms—raided by federal immigration agents—has donated thousands of dollars to California Democrats. Farrar, a Santa Barbara resident and Trump critic, is also the farm’s co-founder and board director.
George and Alex Soros’s left-wing NGO network is connected to a lawsuit aiming to block the Trump administration’s DHS from ending a temporary quasi-amnesty program for tens of thousands of illegal aliens in the U.S.
Convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein's final known message said he was “still hanging around,” sent just hours before he was found hanged in his jail cell, according to journalist and Trump biographer Michael Wolff.
