Day 171
They're fired!
Today’s Big Story…
The Supreme Court has cleared the way for federal workforce cuts and agency reorganizations to proceed while the appeals process continues.
In February, Trump signed an executive order titled “Implementing the President’s ‘Department of Government Efficiency’ Workforce Optimization Initiative,” calling for sweeping reductions. A California judge paused the plan in May, but the government appealed to the 9th Circuit, prompting the Supreme Court’s interim decision. The justices clarified that their order addresses only the legality of Trump’s executive order and White House memo on workforce cuts—not individual personnel decisions.
The State Department released the following statement: “Today’s near unanimous decision from the Supreme Court further confirms that the law was on our side throughout this entire process. We will continue to move forward with our historic reorganization plan at the State Department, as announced earlier this year. This is yet another testament to President Trump’s dedication to following through on an America First agenda.”
Trump wins! The Trump administration can move forward with plans to slash the federal work force and dismantle wasteful federal agencies, the Supreme Court ruled. The order, which lifted a lower court’s ruling that had blocked mass layoffs, was unsigned and did not include a vote
