Today’s Big Story…

On Juneteenth, President Trump posted on Truth Social, criticizing non-working holidays, claiming they’re unpopular with both employers and employees.

Too many non-working holidays in America. It is costing our Country $BILLIONS OF DOLLARS to keep all of these businesses closed. The workers don’t want it either! Soon we’ll end up having a holiday for every once working day of the year. It must change if we are going to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump posted.

Former President Joe Biden signed Juneteenth into law as a federal holiday on June 18, 2021, during a White House ceremony where he also called for greater racial equity and criticized state election integrity laws. It was the first new national holiday since Martin Luther King Jr. Day was established in 1983.

Another Big Story…

As speculation grows over a potential U.S. strike on Iran, President Trump had Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt tell reporters that he’ll decide within two weeks—keeping Iran uncertain.

Based on the fact that there’s a substantial chance of negotiations that may or may not take place with Iran in the near future, I will make my decision whether or not to go within the next two weeks,” said Leavitt, quoting Trump, and then added: “Trust in President Trump. President Trump has incredible instincts and President Trump kept America and the world safe in his first term as president.”

The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump approved Iran strike plans but was waiting to see if Tehran would end its nuclear program. Trump denied the claim on Truth Social, saying, “The Wall Street Journal has no idea what my thoughts are concerning Iran!

The Administration…

  1. President Trump fired off multiple Truth Social posts: he slammed Fox News for a border-poll rating, criticized Fed Chair Jerome Powell, announced an executive order extending TikTok’s ban deadline, and said he will nominate Chad Meredith to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky.

  2. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy promoted the “big, beautiful bill” at San Diego International Airport, calling for a full overhaul of the U.S. air traffic control system. He urged swift action, saying it must be done within 3–4 years to protect millions of daily passengers.

  3. Most Latino Trump voters in recent NBC News focus groups said they approved of his handling of illegal immigration and his overall performance as president.

  4. A new ICE memo asks lawmakers to give 72 hours’ notice before visiting immigration field offices. The memo also states ICE can cancel or deny visits by Congress members under certain conditions.

  5. The State Department announced it will resume processing foreign student visa applications, but now requires applicants to unlock their social media accounts. Officials will review posts for content deemed hostile to the U.S.

  6. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told Congress the U.S. military is ramping up investment in drones, inspired by Ukraine and Israel’s battlefield use. In testimony on the $961.6 billion defense budget, he stressed the need for cutting-edge tech in developing offensive and defensive unmanned systems.

  7. Hundreds gathered in Tenafly, New Jersey, to welcome home Edan Alexander, the last known U.S. hostage from Gaza. Captured by Hamas during the Oct. 7 attack on Israel, Alexander was held for 584 days before his release, secured through Trump administration negotiations.

  8. HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. praised major food companies for phasing out artificial dyes and additives. Kraft Heinz, for example, announced it will stop using artificial dyes in new products and remove them from all existing ones by the end of 2027. Other companies making changes include General Mills, McCormick, Steak ‘n Shake, and In-N-Out Burger.

  9. SpaceX’s Starship exploded during a test at its Starbase in Boca Chica, Texas, with the blast captured on multiple livestreams. Elon Musk responded jokingly, saying, “Just a scratch.”

  10. Edward Walsh, an American businessman and philanthropist, was sworn in as the United States Ambassador to Ireland.

Vice President…

JD Vance, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya announced a $10 million NIH initiative to study the long-term health effects of the 2023 East Palestine, Ohio chemical spill. The five-year effort marks a shift from the Biden administration’s widely criticized response, aiming to address community health concerns and improve care.

Congress…

THE HOUSE

•Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) claimed Trump’s reelection reflects a national mental health crisis, calling his supporters “sick” during an interview with Katie Couric. She said opposition to Trump should go beyond party lines.

•Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) claimed the U.S. is turning into a “police state” and blamed President Trump, not leftist rioters, for showing “hatred” toward American values.

•Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL) faced backlash after claiming the solution to illegal immigration is providing a path to citizenship. At a press conference announcing his SUDEM Act, which seeks more oversight of ICE detention centers, Frost accused Trump and his administration of running a “taxpayer-funded kidnapping program” disguised as immigration enforcement.

THE SENATE

•The Senate confirmed Rodney S. Scott as President Trump’s CBP Commissioner with 51 Republican votes and no Democratic support. Scott, a former Border Patrol Chief, brings over 29 years of experience.

•Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) is pushing to win over GOP senators wary of major Medicaid cuts, aiming to bring the bill to a vote next week. He's racing to meet President Trump's July 4 deadline, which the Senate is in danger of missing.

•Democrats walked out of a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing after delivering opening statements on Joe Biden’s cognitive fitness. Sens. Dick Durbin and Peter Welch attended briefly, with Durbin leaving after showing a video aimed at portraying Trump as mentally unfit.

•Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) is again criticizing Tyson Foods, accusing the company of hiring illegal aliens and minors while shutting down U.S. plants and laying off American workers.

•Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, challenging Sen. John Cornyn in the GOP primary, announced an investigation into 33 suspected noncitizens who allegedly voted illegally in the 2024 election. The probe was prompted by a tip from Secretary of State Jane Nelson, who accessed the data thanks to an executive order by President Trump.

The Resistance…

  1. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei warned that U.S. involvement alongside Israel would trigger “all-out war,” including the possibility of a “high-impact” cyberattack as tensions escalate.

  2. Iran’s largest crypto exchange, Nobitex, lost $100 million in a cyberattack claimed by pro-Israeli group Predatory Sparrow. In response, Iran imposed a widespread internet blackout.

  3. Multiple Boeing 747s were tracked flying from China to Iran over the past week, raising concerns about possible Chinese support for Iran amid Israeli strikes on its nuclear sites. FlightRadar24 recorded at least five such flights since June 14, which vanished from radar near Iran after passing through Central Asia.

  4. Wang Zaozao, also known as “Linda,” a Chinese-born educator, interpreter, and pageant winner with ties to the Chinese Communist Party, has established relationships with several top New York Democrats over the past five years, including Mayor Eric Adams and Sen. Chuck Schumer.

  5. U.S. border agents discovered a sophisticated cross-border smuggling tunnel stretching over 1,000 feet from Tijuana into California. Still under construction, the tunnel ran beneath the Otay Mesa Port of Entry.

  6. Federal agents used rubber bullets, tear gas, and flash bangs to disperse protesters blocking access to an ICE facility in Portland. The crowd tried to prevent law enforcement vehicles from entering and exiting.

  7. Democrats, pro-migration groups, and California media are pressuring the Los Angeles Dodgers with claims that the team is aiding ICE deportation efforts, pulling the franchise into migration politics.

  8. Former California Governor and Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger appeared on The View, where the liberal-leaning hosts expected support for their criticism of ICE deportations—but didn’t get it. When Joy Behar asked if he had a “visceral reaction” to ICE’s actions as an immigrant, Schwarzenegger didn’t take the bait. Instead, he praised America as “the greatest country in the world,” recalling his journey as a legal immigrant and the opportunities it gave him. He then emphasized the importance of following the law.

  9. Michelle Obama said she’s “so glad” she never had a son, joking he would’ve been a mini version of her husband. The comment was made during a discussion with her brother, Craig Robinson, on masculinity and raising boys.

  10. E. Jean Carroll, who won an $83.3 million defamation case against President Trump, said she plans to use the money to anger him by donating to causes he opposes. She shared her plans on Katie Phang’s YouTube show, calling it a form of symbolic revenge.

  11. The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) criticized the Supreme Court’s decision upholding Tennessee’s ban on transgender procedures for minors, calling the treatments “evidence-based.” They argued the ruling will hinder efforts to build further research on the issue.

  12. Intel, once a dominant force in PC chipmaking, plans to cut 15–20% of its factory workforce in July, potentially affecting thousands. The announcement came in an internal email from VP of manufacturing Naga Chandrasekaran.
