Today’s Big Story…
In a recent appearance on the Pod Force One podcast, President Trump expressed growing pessimism about securing a nuclear deal with Iran to halt its uranium enrichment program, stating he is "less confident" an agreement will be reached.
Trump mentioned a shift in Iran's attitude, noting they seem less enthusiastic about negotiations, which he believes may be a delaying tactic. His special envoy, Steve Witkoff, has been leading high-stakes talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, pushing for Iran to cease uranium enrichment entirely.
However, Iran has firmly rejected these demands, insisting on its right to enrich uranium, with Araghchi stating that enrichment will continue "with or without a deal." Iranian Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh escalated tensions by warning that if nuclear talks fail and the U.S. or Israel attacks Iran's nuclear facilities, Iran would target U.S. bases in the region. Nasirzadeh emphasized that "all U.S. bases are within our reach" and Iran would "boldly" strike them if provoked. This threat follows reports of Iran amassing near weapons-grade uranium, raising concerns about its nuclear ambitions.
In response to these heightened tensions, the U.S. State Department has ordered the evacuation of nonessential personnel from its embassy in Iraq and regions in proximity to Iran. The Trump administration continues to prioritize diplomacy but has warned of severe consequences if Iran does not comply. The state of U.S.-Iran relations is as tense and fragile as ever as both sides approach a critical juncture in negotiations.
Another Big Story…
Billionaire and former DOGE head Elon Musk issued a public apology on X after a heated feud with President Trump.
The clash began when Musk opposed Trump’s funding bill and made personal attacks, sparking a days-long dispute. Musk sparked controversy by threatening to decommission a SpaceX craft and falsely claiming Trump was named in the Epstein files—posts he later deleted, including one suggesting Trump be impeached. He also posted a poll hinting at forming a new political party, signaling a possible break from GOP support. Trump responded by warning of serious consequences if Musk backed Democrats and declared their friendship over.
After days of tension, Musk privately discussed a truce late last week with Vice President JD Vance and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, who reportedly has a good working relationship with Musk. He then softened his stance, prompting Trump to say he wished him well.
And now, according to the New York Times, following a late-night call to Trump earlier this week, Musk officially offered a sincere apology, both privately and publicly via X: “I regret some of my posts about President Donald Trump last week. They went too far.”
I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far.

The Administration…
President Trump announced that the U.S. will no longer revoke Chinese student visas in exchange for China resuming rare earth mineral exports. The move follows a U.S.-China agreement on a framework to ease trade tensions.
Since President Trump took office, all net job growth has gone to native-born Americans, reversing a trend under Joe Biden where most new jobs went to foreign-born workers.
The Trump administration dismissed California’s lawsuit to block military involvement in immigration enforcement as a “crass political stunt” that endangers lives. The Justice Department argued the president has full constitutional and legal authority to deploy the National Guard and Marines.
The Justice Department also requested extensive election data from Colorado. It requested all records related to the 2024 federal elections and any remaining 2020 records.
Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the Trump administration will charge those involved in the Los Angeles anti-ICE riots under the Hobbs Act, which bans robbery or extortion that affects interstate or foreign commerce.
Lawyers for Trump urged a federal appeals court to move his hush money case from state to federal court, aiming to erase his felony conviction. Unlike past failed attempts, the panel of judges this time seemed more receptive to the argument that the case should have been federal from the start.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt denied reports from the Washington Post and Politico claiming the Trump administration plans to send thousands of illegal aliens to Guantanamo Bay.
Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. appointed eight new members to the CDC’s vaccine advisory panel, ACIP. Among them are Dr. Joseph Hibbeln, a nutritional neuroscientist; Dr. Robert Malone, an mRNA technology pioneer; and Dr. Cody Meissner, a pediatrics professor and former ACIP member.
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard warned of a looming “nuclear holocaust” in a recently posted video, accusing “warmongers” of pushing the world closer to nuclear annihilation than ever before.
Vice President…
JD Vance made an unannounced visit to southwest Montana, meeting with Rupert Murdoch, his son Lachlan, and other Fox News executives at the Murdoch family ranch near Dillon. The purpose of the meeting remains unclear. Neither Fox News nor Vance’s office commented, and his unscheduled arrival in Butte sparked local speculation.
Congress…
THE HOUSE
•The 2025 Congressional Baseball Game took place last night, continuing a tradition dating back to 1909. Last year’s game saw major disruptions when protesters stormed the field, leading to eight arrests and outfield tackles by Capitol Police. In that 2024 matchup, Republicans dominated Democrats 31-11, marking their fourth straight win. Last night, the GOP won again: 13-2.
•Several lawmakers also paused legislative work this week to perform Shakespeare at Harman Hall for the annual “Will on the Hill” event, hosted by the Shakespeare Theatre Company. The tradition, now over 20 years old, raises funds for youth arts education programs.
•Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) downplayed the Los Angeles riots, blaming unruly teens rather than anarchists and pointing to Trump’s immigration policies as a cause. She said Democrats shouldn't be expected to "answer for every teen who throws a rock."
•Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) introduced a bill to label the Muslim Brotherhood a foreign terrorist organization, calling it a move away from appeasement and toward Trump’s “America First” national security approach.
•Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ) secured the Democratic nomination for New Jersey governor, defeating five rivals. She will face former Republican state Rep. Jack Ciattarelli, a Trump-backed candidate, in the general election.
THE SENATE
•Senate Republicans signaled they’re ready to shrink the SALT deduction in Trump’s tax bill, setting up a GOP clash with House moderates who backed the current version. The dispute could delay the bill and jeopardize the party’s July 4 deadline.
•Senate Republicans also blocked a Democratic effort to prevent the White House from potentially accepting a luxury Qatari jet as the next Air Force One by blocking two resolutions on the matter.
•Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said he was disinvited from the White House picnic after opposing President Trump’s tax and spending bill, which he criticized for worsening the deficit. Paul had planned to attend with his family but was told he was no longer welcome.
•Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) has launched an investigation into the California-based Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA), alleging it may be funding coordinated protests and riots in Los Angeles.
The Resistance…
All members of the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board resigned, accusing the Trump administration of political interference. The 12 members said they stepped down rather than support actions they claim violate the law and undermine the program’s mission. The State Department oversees the Fulbright program, which funds scholars to research abroad.
A group of drag performers protested President Trump and Vice President Vance’s attendance at the Les Misérables opening at the Kennedy Center.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom faced ridicule over a botched livestream that had audio issues, dropped repeatedly, and featured echoes. In the portions that aired, he blamed Trump and federal immigration enforcement for the unrest.
DNC Vice Chair David Hogg announced he won’t seek reelection after the committee voted to redo the vice chair election involving him and Pennsylvania state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta.

TikTok star Khaby Lame has voluntarily left the United States after being detained by immigration agents in Nevada for allegedly overstaying his visa.
The far-left Women’s March Foundation is urging Americans to fly the U.S. flag upside down in protest of President Trump deploying troops to assist the National Guard during the Los Angeles anti-ICE riots.
A federal judge blocked the government from detaining Mahmoud Khalil, an anti-Israel activist held by the Trump administration on “foreign policy” grounds. U.S. District Judge Michael Farbiarz issued a preliminary injunction, rejecting a memo from Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Hamas and allied groups in Gaza are planning attacks on U.S. aid distribution centers, according to Telegram messages verified by a senior U.S. official, raising the risk of direct U.S. involvement in the conflict.
More than 80 people were arrested as a large anti-ICE protest in Lower Manhattan turned chaotic, with demonstrators clashing with New York police and throwing objects.
Sa’ad bin Atef al-Awlaki, leader of al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, called for the assassination of President Trump, VP Vance, and their top advisers in a propaganda video. He urged Muslims in the U.S. to “take revenge” for Trump’s pro-Israel stance, referring to American leaders as “infidels” and “the scum of the earth.”
