Day 143
It takes an army to solve stupidity
Today’s Big Story…
During a Fort Bragg speech, President Trump called Los Angeles protesters “animals” and “a foreign enemy” while defending his military deployment and vowing to “liberate” the city.
Speaking at an event marking the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary, Trump hinted at invoking the Insurrection Act to deploy the military domestically and pledged to use all federal resources to restore order. He called LA “a trash heap” controlled by criminals and announced plans to reinstate the Confederate names of seven military bases, reversing changes made under the Biden administration. He also criticized former President Biden, stating that he believed Biden had stolen the 2020 election.
Trump’s remarks, delivered to a cheering crowd, were accompanied by jokes, dancing to “YMCA,” and a military demonstration featuring a missile strike, helicopter assault, and building raid. The event also served as a lead-up to a large military parade in Washington, D.C., scheduled for Saturday, Trump’s 79th birthday, coinciding with the Army’s anniversary.
President Donald J. Trump at Fort Bragg 🇺🇸
"As President of the United States, let me express the undying gratitude of our nation for every soldier here today—for every veteran & their families... across America... & for every patriot who has worn the uniform over 250 years."

Another Big Story…
In a win for President Trump, a federal judge rejected an emergency motion from California’s Gov. Gavin Newsom and AG Rob Bonta to block what they called the “unlawful militarization” of Los Angeles.
The legal motion accused President Trump of using federal troops and commandeering state National Guard forces for immigration enforcement in Los Angeles. The filing, part of a broader lawsuit against Trump, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and the Pentagon, seeks to halt military involvement amid protests. Judge Breyer denied the emergency order to block the deployment of nearly 5,000 troops but allowed the state to file its opposition before Thursday’s hearing. Newsom’s office has not commented on the ruling.
ALSO: President Trump pushed back on Gov. Gavin Newsom’s claim that he never phone-called about the LA crisis, telling Fox News they spoke for about 16 minutes on over the weekend after Newsom missed his first call.
“I told him to get his ass in gear and stop the riots,” Trump said, calling Newsom a liar and showing a screenshot of the June 7 call at 1:23 a.m. as proof.

The Administration…
A new Insider Advantage poll of 1,000 likely voters found that 59% support President Trump’s decision to deploy the National Guard to stop the anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles, while 39% oppose it.
Additionally, CNN analyst Harry Enten said that foreign-born voters have shifted 40 points toward Republicans on immigration since 2020, marking the largest swing of any group. He noted strong gains for Trump among immigrant voters.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs Chair Gen. Dan Caine answered questions before the House Appropriations Subcommittee, after 700 U.S. Marines were deployed to Los Angeles.
Hegseth also spoke at Fort Bragg along with Trump, where he vowed to eliminate “woke garbage” from the military, which was received with cheers.
Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed that Elpidio Reyna was identified as the suspect seen on video throwing rocks at federal officers during anti-ICE protests in LA. The FBI had offered a $50,000 reward for information after a federal officer was injured.
FBI Director Kash Patel has filed a lawsuit in Texas against MSNBC columnist Frank Figliuzzi, accusing him of falsely claiming Patel spent more time in nightclubs than at FBI headquarters.
Trump-endorsed Jack Ciattarelli has secured the Republican nomination for New Jersey governor after winning the June 10 primary . His victory builds on strong GOP momentum fueled by his pledge to reverse policies like sanctuary protections, slash property taxes, and tackle public safety.
The Trump administration is preparing to transfer up to 9,000 illegal aliens to Guantanamo Bay as early as this week, marking a major escalation in immigration enforcement.
President Trump said he plans to begin phasing out FEMA after hurricane season, shifting more disaster relief responsibility to states. He added that future aid would be distributed directly from the president’s office, saying, “We’re going to do it much differently.”

Vice President…
JD Vance met with Sen. Ron Johnson, a key GOP holdout on the “big, beautiful bill.” Johnson shared a draft of his upcoming report outlining debt concerns and pushed for trillions more in spending cuts and a long-term plan to enforce them. “It was a very good meeting,” he said. “We all want to succeed.”
Congress…
THE HOUSE
•The House passed two bills to overturn Washington, D.C. Council policies allowing noncitizens to vote in local elections and easing the firing of police officers. The effort follows President Trump’s March executive order creating the D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force to monitor the city's sanctuary status. The other measure, the Protecting Our Nation’s Capital Emergency Act, targets reforms that banned neck restraints, expanded body cam access, and made it easier to discipline D.C. police officers.
•Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) was federally indicted for allegedly obstructing Homeland Security agents during an incident at a Newark immigration facility. U.S. Attorney Alina Habba charged her with three counts related to impeding officers during the attempted arrest of Mayor Ras Baraka.
•Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) downplayed the Los Angeles riots, calling the violence “exuberance of the moment” during a press conference. She faced swift backlash for the remark.
•Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) was criticized by a Homeland Security official for falsely downplaying the riots and trying to force entry into a Los Angeles detention center to meet a detained union leader. DHS said access was briefly restricted for safety as Waters approached guards entering the facility.
THE SENATE
•Sen. Rand Paul said the Senate Homeland Security Committee will propose an alternative version of the House-passed bill backing Trump’s agenda, with significantly less funding for border security. Paul argued the $150 billion requested is unnecessary.
•Sen. John Curtis (R-Utah) called the July 4 deadline for passing the GOP megabill a “false deadline,” saying it’s more important to get it right than rush it.
•Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) introduced a bill to raise the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour, calling the current rate outdated. He said wages have stagnated for decades and the minimum wage hasn’t kept pace with economic realities.
The Resistance…
Former President Biden used a mechanical autopen to sign official documents under more questionable circumstances than previously known, according to the Oversight Project. He reportedly used at least three different autopen signatures, even while in D.C. and signing other documents by hand.
ABC News correspondent Terry Moran is leaving the network after a now-deleted X post calling Trump and Stephen Miller “world-class” haters sparked backlash. Moran, with ABC since 1997, was initially suspended following the viral controversy.
MSNBC host Rachel Maddow slammed President Trump, claiming he was “panicking” over protests and saying, “Game over, big guy. You lose.” She criticized his deployment of the National Guard to California as a sign that he can’t handle crises.
A federal judge issued an order blocking DOGE from accessing Office of Personnel Management databases, citing legal and cybersecurity violations. Judge Denise Cote granted the injunction after a lawsuit by federal employee unions.
Colonel Bree Fram, one of the military’s highest-ranking transgender officials, spoke out after being placed on leave under the Trump administration’s trans troop ban. Fram, who came out in 2016, was a heavy supporter of DEI initiatives.
U.S. gymnast Simone Biles apologized after backlash over calling former swimmer Riley Gaines “truly sick” for opposing biological men in women’s sports. Biles walked back her comments following widespread criticism.
ICE arrested over 100 illegal workers in a raid at Omaha’s Glenn Valley Foods, the largest in Nebraska since Trump took office. Protesters responded by throwing rocks at federal vehicles.
CNN described the Mexican flag as “a defining symbol” of the ongoing Los Angeles riots over ICE’s immigration enforcement.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass urged Trump not to deport more illegal aliens, warning the city's economy could “collapse” and suggesting it could jeopardize the upcoming World Cup.
Local media captured video of agitators in downtown LA handing out riot gear, including boxes labeled “bionic shield,” from a truck near federal buildings during the fourth day of anti-ICE protests.
Rioters looted a major Apple store in downtown Los Angeles during protests against ICE raids. Images show masked individuals ransacking the store, with one breaking a window to escape.
Vandals in LA also defaced a mural honoring Lakers legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna, who died in a helicopter crash.
