Day 139
“Nothing catches me by surprise. Nothing.”
Today’s Big Story…
President Trump downplayed tensions and seemed hardly bothered by Elon Musk’s recent negative and critical comments, shifting a brief call with The New York Post to focus on his strong poll numbers and the better-than-expected May jobs report instead of addressing the feud directly.
“Nothing catches me by surprise. Nothing,” said Trump, adding: “The numbers are through the roof, the stock market is up, billions are pouring in from tariffs, and my poll numbers are the highest they’ve ever been. Other than that, what can I tell you, right? The bill is great. It’s going to pass, but the bill is great, and it’s going be great for everybody, including him. And you see it now. And take a look at what happened today with the job numbers. They’re through the roof, and the stock market’s up already 600 points… This is what I do for a living, OK?”
President Trump also told CNN he’s “not even thinking about” Elon Musk and has no plans to speak with him anytime soon, stating: “I’m not even thinking about Elon. He’s got a problem. The poor guy’s got a problem. I won’t be speaking to him for a while I guess, but I wish him well.”
Another Big Story…
President Trump announced that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and Trade Representative Jamieson Greer will lead the U.S. delegation to meet with Chinese officials in London on Monday to discuss trade.
The talks follow a 90-day tariff ceasefire signed in May, after the U.S. imposed a 145% tariff and China a 125% tariff.
Trump also told reporters aboard Air Force One that Chinese President Xi Jinping has agreed to resume rare earth mineral shipments to the U.S., which had been halted since April.

Weekend Reports
President Trump signed three executive orders on drones, affirming that the strange 2024 sightings on the East Coast were likely legal commercial drones, not threats.
Additionally, Trump announced that a new ballroom will be built at the White House and that he’ll fund it personally. Trump called it a “fun” project as he continues to focus on global affairs.
President Trump also praised the federal appeals court ruling that the White House can exclude the Associated Press from the Oval Office, Mar-a-Lago, and Air Force One. The D.C. Court of Appeals issued a 2-1 decision granting a stay of an April 8 ruling that had deemed the ban unconstitutional.
The Supreme Court granted the Trump administration’s request to allow DOGE members access to Social Security Administration records. The conservative majority approved the emergency application, overriding a Maryland judge’s injunction, with all three liberal justices dissenting.
David Schoen, a former lawyer for Jeffrey Epstein, pushed back after Musk claimed on X that President Trump appears in the “Epstein files.” Schoen, who led Epstein’s defense shortly before his death, said, “I can say unequivocally that Trump never did anything wrong with Epstein.” He added that Epstein had “no information to hurt President Trump.”
During a two-hour interview on the “Joe Rogan Experience,” FBI Director Kash Patel distanced himself from Elon Musk’s claim that President Trump’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein are the reason Attorney General Pam Bondi hasn’t released the full files. “I’m staying out of the Trump-Elon thing,” Patel said, calling it “way outside my lane.”
Additionally, Patel revealed the Trump administration has recovered a cell phone and hard drives used by Dr. Anthony Fauci during the COVID pandemic. Patel called it a “great breakthrough” in the investigation into COVID’s origins. He said the devices may shed light on key decisions regarding lockdowns, masking, and ties to the Chinese lab suspected in the outbreak.
The FBI and DHS issued a warning of an “elevated threat” to the Jewish community. They cautioned that the Israel-Hamas conflict could inspire extremists and hate crimes, and that foreign terrorist groups may exploit the situation to encourage violence in the U.S.
A federal judge ordered the Trump administration to reinstate thousands of AmeriCorps employees and restore hundreds of millions in funding, ruling the cuts violated federal law. Judge Deborah Boardman sided with 24 states and D.C., which sued after the DOGE slashed the agency’s budget and staff.
A Salvadoran national deported under President Trump is returning to the U.S. to face charges. Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia is indicted in Tennessee for conspiracy and transporting illegal aliens for profit, according to court documents.
