Day 132
Farewell or see you soon?
Today’s Big Story…
Elon Musk has officially stepped down from his role in the Trump administration after reaching the 130-day limit for a "special government employee."
At a White House press conference, Musk and President Trump praised the work of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which Musk helped lead, and assured it would continue without him. However, Trump added Musk is "not really leaving" and will still be involved, calling DOGE "his baby" and noting Musk will remain a frequent presence at the White House. Trump also awarded Musk the presidential key.
Trump praised Musk for his role in what he called the most sweeping government reform effort in decades. He credited Musk and DOGE with shifting the mindset of federal workers by rooting out fraud and cutting waste. According to DOGE's website, the agency claims to have saved $175 billion as of May 29. However, only $61.5 billion of that is itemized, and documentation is available for just $32.5 billion. Despite the gaps, Musk vowed DOGE will continue its push toward $1 trillion in total savings.
This key is awarded by the President of the United States to very few special people and Elon Musk is one of them.
A true honor for a true patriot. 🇺🇸

Another Big Story…
During a visit to Pittsburgh, President Trump announced he is doubling foreign steel tariffs from 25% to 50%.
The move comes a day after an appeals court reinstated his “Liberation Day” tariffs, which had previously been struck down by two lower courts. Trump made the announcement while celebrating a new deal between US Steel and Japan’s Nippon Steel.
“We’re here today to celebrate a blockbuster agreement that will ensure this storied American company stays an American company,” Trump said during his visit to US Steel’s Mon Valley Works–Irvin Plant. “We’re going to have a great partner. We are going to be imposing a 25% increase. We’re going to bring it from 25% to 50%, the tariffs on steel into the United States of America, which will even further secure the steel industry in the United States.”

Weekend Reports
The Supreme Court has cleared the way for the Trump administration to revoke temporary protections for about 500,000 illegal aliens from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. The order pauses a lower court ruling that had blocked the government from ending the parole program.
The Trump administration is ramping up social media vetting for visa applicants traveling to Harvard, according to Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The directive orders U.S. embassies and consulates to enhance screenings for students, faculty, staff, contractors, guest speakers, and tourists.
When asked if he would pardon Sean “Diddy” Combs if convicted of sex trafficking, President Trump said he’d consider it but hasn’t made a decision. Prosecutors allege Combs coerced women into drug-fueled sex acts with male sex workers over two decades.
President Trump fired Kim Sajet, Director of the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery. Sajet, the first female director, was criticized by Trump for promoting a liberal DEI agenda. Born in Nigeria, raised in Australia, and a Dutch citizen, Sajet had overseen the gallery for over a decade.
President Trump scored a legal win in his defamation lawsuit against the Pulitzer Prize Board. He filed the suit in December 2022 after the board stood by its 2018 award to the New York Times and Washington Post for their partisan coverage of the Russia Collusion Hoax.
Hours before Elon Musk and Trump’s Oval Office press conference, NYT published a hit piece accusing Musk of drug use and highlighting alleged turmoil in his personal and family life. Musk mocked the publication, referencing their Russia Collusion Hoax reporting.
Musk also drew attention in the Oval Office for a bruise under his eye. When asked, Musk joked, “I wasn’t anywhere near France,” referencing the viral Macron video, before revealing his 5-year-old son, X, gave him the black eye during playtime.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) took to Elon Musk’s X platform to celebrate the end of his role at the DOGE. A longtime critic of Musk’s efforts to expose waste and fraud, Warren wrote: “Good riddance — but Musk isn’t off the hook for his chaos and corruption. We must hold him accountable.”
Gun control activist David Hogg, already facing pressure as DNC vice chair, is in deeper trouble after being caught on undercover video by Project Veritas. At a dinner with an undercover journalist, Hogg revealed insider details about the Biden White House, admitted to selectively challenging Democrats to push his agenda, and criticized Nancy Pelosi.
In a secret April meeting, Saudi Arabia urged Iran to take Trump’s nuclear deal offer seriously to avoid war with Israel. Saudi Prince Khalid bin Salman delivered the message to top Iranian leaders, including President Pezeshkian and military officials.
