Today’s Big Story…

“Death. Death. Horrible Death…”

These were the words President Trump laid out to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa at the White House, with a stack of paper reports referencing the murders and killings of White farmers in his country. He confronted Ramaphosa in person by also displaying an intense video showing the violent treatment and rhetoric against Afrikaners, including a mass grave site of White South Africans.

"These are burial sites right here. Burial sites — over a thousand — of White farmers. And those cars are lined up to pay love on a Sunday morning. Each one of those white things you see is a cross. And there is approximately a thousand of them," Trump said. "They're all White farmers. The family of White farmers. And those cars aren't driving, they are stopped there to pay respects to their family member who was killed. And it's a terrible sight. I've never seen anything like it. On both sides of the road, you have crosses. Those people are all killed."

President Ramaphosa looked stunned during the video presentation and denied knowing about the burial site. He sidestepped the topic of the alleged killings and violent rhetoric from radical political leader Julius Malema, including when White South African golfers he had brought along to impress Trump confirmed the violent discrimination against White farmers. This all comes after around 50 Afrikaners were flown to the U.S. as refugees last week, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio saying there were “more to come.”

Another Big Story…

The Pentagon confirmed President Trump accepted Qatar’s Boeing 747 gift for use as Air Force One, raising concerns among lawmakers about security and potential quid pro quo.

The Secretary of Defense has accepted a Boeing 747 from Qatar in accordance with all federal rules and regulations,” stated chief spokesperson Sean Parnell. “The Department of Defense will work to ensure proper security measures and functional-mission requirements are considered for an aircraft used to transport the President of the United States. For additional information, we refer you to the United States Air Force.”

Trump ridiculed an NBC reporter who asked about the Qatari aircraft while the president was speaking with South Africa’s Ramaphosa and showcasing the intense video presentation, stating: “It’s NBC trying to get off the subject of what you just saw… You’re a TERRIBLE reporter….you’re a disgrace.”

The Administration…

  • Gas prices are set to hit their lowest Memorial Day level in over 20 years, with inflation-adjusted costs not seen since 2003 and a possible drop below $3.00 per gallon this summer.

  • Education Secretary Linda McMahon pledged to follow the law as the Trump administration moves to eliminate her department, saying it has failed to boost student achievement. She said the 2026 budget plan would cut red tape and send funds directly to states to encourage innovation and improve results.

  • The Trump administration is halting federal oversight of police in Minneapolis and Louisville, and the DOJ is dropping misconduct investigations into six other departments, calling them overreaching.

  • Technology has largely replaced a physical wall along the U.S.-Canada border, with federal agents relying on digital tools to extend their reach. As the White House pushes for more southern border wall funding, northern border officials say tech has proven effective and should be expanded.

  • A new U.S. Army memo states that transgender soldiers’ records must reflect their birth sex, with all pronouns and documentation updated accordingly, asserting that sex is “unchanging during a person’s life.”

  • The U.S. Air Force test-launched an unarmed Minuteman III nuclear-capable ICBM from California’s Vandenberg base, sending it 4,200 miles to the Marshall Islands at 15,000 mph as part of a routine missile test.

  • President Trump hosted the NCAA champion Florida Gators men's basketball team at the White House, where they presented him with a personalized No. 47 jersey. He also praised UF legend Tim Tebow.

Vice President…

JD Vance called Chief Justice John Roberts’ claim that courts can “check the excesses” of the executive “profoundly wrong,” adding to the administration’s growing criticism of judicial interference in the president’s actions.

Congress…

THE HOUSE

After a nearly 22-hour meeting, the House Rules Committee voted 8-4 late last night to advance President Trump’s bill, adding last-minute changes to win over both moderates and conservatives.

This comes after conservative House Freedom Caucus members demanded that GOP leaders delay a vote on President Trump’s “one big, beautiful bill.” The group met with House Speaker Mike Johnson at the White House to address disagreements over the sweeping legislation, where a compromise was met.

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) filed a resolution to expel Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-N.J.) after McIver was federally charged with assaulting agents during a protest at a Newark ICE facility.

Former Florida congressional candidate William Robert Braddock III was sentenced to three years in prison for threatening to kill Rep. Anna Paulina Luna during the 2021 primary race. Braddock, who pleaded guilty to transmitting interstate threats, told an acquaintance he’d use a “Russian-Ukrainian hit squad” if Luna kept polling well, then fled to Thailand and later the Philippines.

Democratic Rep. Gerry Connolly of Virginia died at age 75. He had recently announced plans to retire following a cancer diagnosis and step down from his role on the House Oversight Committee.

THE SENATE

Senate Republicans blocked Sen. Chuck Schumer’s bill aimed at halting President Trump’s deal to use a gifted Qatari jet as Air Force One. Schumer sought unanimous consent, but Sen. Roger Marshall objected.

A split has emerged among Senate Democrats over the bipartisan Genius Act, which would expand use of stablecoins and, according to Sen. Elizabeth Warren, potentially benefit Trump and his family. Sixteen Democrats voted to advance the bill despite strong opposition from Warren and other progressives.

On Fox Business, Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) discussed her Senate bill to end birthright citizenship, which she said has fueled a global industry.

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse and EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin clashed during a hearing over the EPA’s cancellation of grants amid Trump-era budget cuts, with Whitehouse pressing Zeldin on whether each grant had been individually reviewed.

The Resistance…

  1. A federal judge in Massachusetts criticized Homeland Security for deporting criminals and murderers to South Sudan. District Court Judge Brian Murphy called it a clear violation of a court order granting migrants more input on their deportation destinations.

  2. China has voiced opposition over the U.S. Golden Dome missile defense project, calling on Washington to halt its development. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning warned that the system carries “strong offensive implications” and risks space militarization and a new arms race.

  3. Bruce Springsteen released a six-track digital EP featuring political commentary and four live songs from his May 14 show in Manchester, where he criticized President Trump.

  4. Promoting his book FDR Drive on The Late Show, former FBI Director James Comey tried to defend himself over his controversial “86 47” post. He partly blamed the seashell story on his wife, Patrice, and got support from Stephen Colbert during the appearance.

  5. CNN host Jake Tapper claims he apologized to Lara Trump for criticizing her in a 2020 interview over remarks about President Biden’s cognitive state and accusations of mocking his stutter.

  6. Aidan Maese-Czeropski, who was caught having sex in Senate Office Building Room 216 in 2023 while working for Sen. Ben Cardin, shared his story with New York Magazine on Wednesday. He said he has no regrets and called Cardin an “irrelevant” retiring Democrat.

  7. Target’s first-quarter sales dropped 2.8% to $23.85 billion, falling short of expectations amid boycotts over its DEI reversal and pressure from Trump’s tariffs. The retailer cut its yearly forecast, warning of further declines as consumers tighten their spending.

  8. Keffiyeh-wearing anti-Israel protesters burned diplomas and clashed with police outside Columbia University after a graduation ceremony. Chanting “Free, free Palestine” and “You’re committing genocide,” they torched diplomas near a sign supporting Mahmoud Khalil, a former student facing deportation under the Trump administration.

  9. Hamas leader Mohammed Sinwar, who took over leadership in Gaza from his brother in October 2024, has been killed by Israeli forces, according to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Your Opinions & Questions…

Mvirgintino: “While I benefit from a higher SALT deduction in New York, the objective should be to lower state and local taxes. Raising the ceiling just gives these blue states the excuse to raise local taxes by saying that at least you can deduct it from your federal taxes. Did you know that only nine percent of taxpayers itemize their federal taxes? The rest take the standard federal deduction so raising SALT has no benefit for 91 percent of filers. Did you know that you don’t get a 100 percent deduction if you itemize? You get a percentage. If you are in the 22 percent tax bracket, for example, your deduction value is 22 percent.”

47 Report: You're absolutely right, and many people don’t realize that raising the SALT cap only benefits a small portion of taxpayers—this reality deserves more attention. It’s a narrow win for a minority, while the broader issue of high local taxes remains unaddressed.

Lanina418: Very good. I love reading your reports you get to the point. You’re very passionate, and you love to get the news out that the Dems don’t report. I don’t listen to local news anymore because they don’t honestly report they only have their agenda. Shame on them and that’s another reason why they are losing voters and viewers.”
