Day 119
On Sundays, 47 Report takes a break from its normal format so that I can delve into a single topic of significance. Today's focus in on Joe Biden's cancer diagnosis.
SO THAT YOU KNOW…
NOTE: My family deeply appreciates the support you’ve shown during this challenging time as my wife, Mary, battles to regain her health. As medical bills accumulate, the success of this newsletter remains a vital part of our lives. It was Mary’s idea from the start to make the 47Report a daily endeavor, emphasizing the importance of supporting President Trump by informing readers about the good he does and the truth behind his agenda. As the newsletter grows, so do the costs of hosting and distributing it each day. To help cover these expenses, we occasionally include no-obligation offers from third parties, such as today’s from Inspire Financial (see below). Biden Diagnosed With Metastatic Prostate Cancer
“Without our health, we have nothing.” — DML
Democrat politician, Joe Biden has reportedly been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has metastasized to his bones, his office announced on Sunday, May 18. The diagnosis, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5), indicates a high-grade malignancy likely to grow quickly. The statement from Biden’s office detailed that the cancer was identified following medical evaluations prompted by increasing urinary symptoms and the discovery of a prostate nodule last week. Biden, aged 82, is now consulting with his family and physicians to review treatment options for managing this serious condition.
The diagnosis was first reported by The New York Times, with additional details provided by multiple outlets. According to these sources, the cancer is hormone-sensitive, which offers some hope for effective management through treatments such as hormone therapy. Biden’s medical team is exploring various approaches to address the disease, which has spread to his skeletal system, a development that complicates prognosis and treatment. The Wall Street Journal noted that Biden’s office emphasized his commitment to addressing his health while maintaining privacy during this challenging time. I wonder why they waited so long? Why didn’t they address his mental decline years ago — it was a problem long before his prostate.
Biden’s diagnosis comes after a routine medical evaluation earlier this month, during which doctors identified a “small nodule” on his prostate, necessitating further investigation. The subsequent tests confirmed the aggressive nature of the cancer, with metastasis to the bone. The Gleason score of 9 underscores the abnormal appearance of the cancer cells and their rapid growth potential, aligning with the severity of the diagnosis. Despite the grim outlook, Biden’s hormone-sensitive cancer may respond to therapies that suppress testosterone, a key driver of prostate cancer progression.
His office’s statement did not specify whether he would step back from public engagements.
Below are key statistics on prostate cancer, specifically focusing on metastatic, hormone-sensitive prostate cancer with a Gleason score of 9 and bone metastasis, consistent with the reported diagnosis:
Prevalence of Metastatic Prostate Cancer:
About 10% of newly diagnosed prostate cancer patients present with bone metastasis, increasing to 80% in advanced stages.
Over 60% of men with advanced prostate cancer develop bone metastases, commonly in the spine, hips, and ribs.
Survival Rates:
5-year survival rate for distant (metastatic) prostate cancer is approximately 34–37%.
With Gleason score 9 and bone metastasis, life expectancy typically ranges from 2–5 years, with 5-year survival around 28–37%.
At 4 years, prostate cancer-specific survival for Gleason score 9 is about 33%.
Hormone-Sensitive Prostate Cancer:
Hormone-sensitive cancers respond to androgen deprivation therapy (ADT), which can control disease for several years.
Median time to progression with ADT in metastatic cases is 24–32 months, depending on initial PSA and Gleason score.
Bone Metastasis Impact:
Bone metastases cause severe pain, fractures, and reduced quality of life in over 60% of cases.
High-volume disease (e.g., ≥4 bone metastases) is associated with worse outcomes, with 62% of patients having extensive bony lesions.
Those who despise Biden’s politics often question how he’s become so wealthy. The accusations of his wrong doings — centered around him reportedly earning money from crooked deals that provided foreign actors with special access to the White House — often tie to the millions of dollars he has to his name. Some critics highlight how he will now use that money to try to save his own life. Some are calling it bad karma. Whether those statements are fair or unfair, be they heartless of not, the statistics don’t bode well for Biden. That said, make no mistake, his riches will provide him the sort of medical treatment that the normal, average, everyday American never receives. But no money can deflect the aggressive nature of the diagnosis and the challenges of managing metastatic, high-grade prostate cancer, though hormone sensitivity offers potential for treatment response.
As a God fearing man, on behalf of my family, we pray that He helps Joe Biden — for no person, regardless of politics or wrong-doings, should be subject to the hell that comes with fighting cancer.
