Today’s Big Story…

Former FBI Director James Comey sparked controversy by posting an Instagram photo of seashells arranged to spell "86 47," captioned "Cool shell formation on my beach walk."

Many interpreted "86" as slang for killing and "47" as a reference to President Trump, the 47th president, suggesting a veiled threat. Comey deleted the post, claiming he didn’t realize the numbers could be associated with violence, but the backlash has been swift and loud.

In a Fox News interview with Bret Baier, Trump called Comey a “dirty cop,” insisting he “knew exactly” the post implied assassination, emphasizing its clarity even to a child. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced that the Department of Homeland Security and the Secret Service were investigating the post as a potential threat. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, appearing on Fox News, labeled it a “call to action to murder” Trump and demanded that Comey be jailed. The Secret Service confirmed it was probing the post, with agents interviewing Comey this weekend.

Current FBI Director Kash Patel pledged support for the Secret Service’s investigation. Public figures, including Donald Trump Jr. and Senator Tom Cotton, called for accountability, with Cotton urging a broader FBI probe into Comey’s actions. The incident fueled widespread outrage, with many condemning Comey’s post as reckless given Trump’s history of surviving two assassination attempts.

Another Big Story…

Meanwhile, Director Patel announced the relocation of 1,500 FBI agents from the J. Edgar Hoover Building in Washington, D.C., citing safety concerns and the need to better distribute the workforce.

The Hoover Building, operational since 1975, is deemed unsafe due to its aging infrastructure, with visible damage like falling concrete requiring net protection. Patel noted that 11,000 of the FBI’s 38,000 employees are concentrated in the D.C. area, disproportionate to crime rates, justifying the move to field offices nationwide. The relocation plan involves transferring 1,000 agents to high-crime areas and 500 to a Huntsville, Alabama, facility over the next three to nine months. Every state will receive additional personnel to enhance crime-fighting efforts and inspire recruitment.

The decision aligns with Patel’s vision to reduce the FBI’s D.C. footprint, a plan he communicated on his first day as director. Support for the move comes from figures like former agent Chris O’Leary, who acknowledges headquarters’ inefficiencies, and X posts praising the reduction of bureaucratic bloat. A 2011 Government Accountability Office report further corroborated the building’s inefficiencies and need for major repairs, reinforcing Patel’s safety concerns.

Weekend Reports

  1. The U.S. Supreme Court blocked the Trump administration’s effort to deport Venezuelan illegal aliens under the 1798 Alien Enemies Act. The Court claimed illegals weren’t given enough time or information to challenge their deportations, with some notified only 24 hours in advance. The case was sent back to the 5th Circuit to determine what procedures are constitutionally required. Justices Thomas and Alito dissented; the majority included Roberts, Barrett, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and the Court’s liberal justices.

  2. President Trump slammed Bruce Springsteen on Truth Social, calling him “highly overrated” and “dumb as a rock,” while mocking his music and politics. The post came after Springsteen labeled Trump’s administration “corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous.”

  3. President Trump’s support among millennials surged this month, with a YouGov/Economist poll showing a 10-point jump among voters aged 30–44—from 38% in April to 48% in May. It’s the largest one-month gain of any demographic

  4. In a blow to President Trump’s agenda, the House Budget Committee voted 21-16 against advancing the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” a major tax and spending package. Five Republicans joined all Democrats in rejecting the bill.

  5. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene criticized Congress for its slow voting pace and handling of proposed DOGE cuts. While she didn’t name Speaker Mike Johnson, her remarks suggested frustration with his leadership.

  6. During debates on proposed SNAP reforms, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) claimed Republicans—especially those who promote Christian values—are trying to “take food from the hungry.”

  7. A bronze statue of First Lady Melania Trump was stolen from a field near her hometown of Sevnica, Slovenia. Thieves cut it off at the ankles despite it being anchored to a tree stump. Authorities are investigating.

  8. USCIS approved 120,141 H-1B visa applications for FY 2026, down from 135,137 in FY 2025 and 188,400 in FY 2024. The drop aligns with a 27% decline in eligible registrations, falling from 470,342 to 343,981.

  9. Multiple outlets report that DHS is reviewing a reality show proposal titled The American, where illegal aliens would compete in challenges for a chance at expedited U.S. citizenship. The idea was pitched by Canadian producer Rob Worsoff. DHS has denied claims that Secretary Kristi Noem is involved.

  10. The Biden administration had withheld audio of Biden’s October 2023 interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur, conducted over two three-hour sessions. Axios obtained and released the recordings to the public last night. Listen Here.
