Day 113
Deals have been struck
Today’s Big Story…
Top Trump officials announced a trade deal with China after two days of talks in Geneva, calling it a major win for President Trump amid his trade war with Beijing.
The White House statement confirmed an agreement but offered no details as of yet. The deal came faster than expected, following Trump’s steep 145% tariffs that had nearly frozen $600 billion in annual trade.
"It’s important to understand how quickly we were able to come to an agreement, which reflects that perhaps the differences were not so large as maybe thought," U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said from Geneva. "That being said, there was a lot of groundwork that went into these two days."
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who led the talks in Geneva, added: "I'm happy to report that we made substantial progress between the United States and China in the very important trade talks. We will be giving details tomorrow, but I can tell you that the talks were productive."
As I told you it would happen, China is now negotiating with the USA on trade. If you doubted Trump’s tariffs — shame on you. The markets will go up this week. You’re welcome.

Another Big Story…
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced he will travel to Turkey this week to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin, aiming to establish a "necessary basis for diplomacy" to end the war.
If it happens, it would mark their first meeting since the conflict began over three years ago. Zelensky also reaffirmed his call for a ceasefire in a post on X.
President Trump recently urged a 30-day unconditional ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, warning of sanctions if it's not honored. Over the weekend, Zelensky and several NATO leaders told Trump in a call that they were ready to start the ceasefire today and enter direct peace talks. While Putin declined the ceasefire, he has agreed to begin direct talks with Ukraine this Thursday.

Your Opinions & Questions…
Sciani: ”The commercialization of Mother's Day has happened with many other special days... like Christmas, which could just be called Commerce Day now. Don't get me started on the 3-day weekends that Congress created that resulted in people skipping local community observances. Thank you for these newsletters. There's always something to read and think about.”
47 Report: Thank you for your support! And agreed. We must remember these holidays are meant to be observed and celebrated, not commercialized. Mother’s Day is meant to acknowledge the hardest profession in the world: being a great mom. Even when it’s not Mother’s Day, it’s always important to show appreciation to the moms out there trying their best to raise healthy and happy children. Happy belated Mother’s Day to all the beautiful moms and grandmothers out there!
