THE REAL MOTHER’S DAY MESSAGE
“When the media blasts out false narratives about what a woman is, it disrespects mothers around the world.” — DML
I start by saying Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms who make this world special. With that said, Mother’s Day is often drowned in a sea of flowers, brunches, and greeting cards. But let’s cut through the commercial fluff and get to the heart of it. Mother’s Day wasn’t born in the 1-800-Flowers boardroom; it was forged in the crucible of sacrifice, loss, and a fierce call for peace. As Americans, we owe it to the women who shaped this tradition—and the mothers we honor—to know the unvarnished truth.
The story of Mother’s Day starts in the 19th century with Ann Reeves Jarvis, a West Virginia mother who wasn’t content to just raise her kids. She organized “Mothers’ Work Days” to tackle public health crises—think sanitation and clean water—in a time when disease claimed lives with brutal efficiency. During the Civil War, she took it further, rallying mothers to care for wounded soldiers, regardless of whether they wore blue or gray. This wasn’t about sentimentality; it was about action, about mothers stepping into the breach when society was tearing itself apart.
After Ann’s death in 1905, her daughter, Anna Jarvis, took up the mantle. Anna wasn’t chasing fame or profit; she wanted a day to honor the quiet, relentless sacrifices of mothers everywhere. By 1914, her campaign succeeded—President Woodrow Wilson declared the second Sunday in May as Mother’s Day. But here’s where it gets messy. Anna watched her vision get hijacked by florists, card companies, and retailers who turned a day of reverence into a cash grab. She spent her life fighting to reclaim it, even getting arrested for protesting the commercialization. That’s the kind of grit we should remember today.
Mother’s Day isn’t about perfect Instagram posts or overpriced bouquets. It’s about the women who, like Ann and Anna, don’t flinch in the face of hardship. It’s about mothers who raise kids in a world that’s increasingly hostile to family values, who teach right from wrong when the culture screams relativism, who sacrifice sleep, dreams, and sometimes their own health to keep the next generation standing. We dishonor them when we reduce this day to a transaction.
As a nation, we’re at a crossroads.
We can’t just pay lip service to mothers while ignoring the policies and cultural shifts that make their job harder. Schools that prioritize ideology over education, economic pressures that force both parents to work endless hours, and a society that often mocks traditional roles—these are the real insults to mothers. The most egregious insult of all is the absurd narrative that “men can be mothers,” often interpreted as men can give birth. This lunacy from the Left, fueled by media lies and the delusions of radicals who peddle such nonsense, seeks to devalue what a real woman is—who a real mother is. If we truly value our mothers, we must fight for a country that supports women and families, not one that undermines them.
Trump is trying hard to remove the Left’s asinine attempt to destroy the meaning of being a mother. His message on Mother’s Day:
“Happy Mother’s Day to ALL the incredible MOTHERS out there, especially those fighting the Radical Left’s nonsense to raise strong, patriotic kids! Melania, a GREAT mother to Barron, and all moms deserve our THANKS for making America’s future. Let’s honor them by WINNING BIG and MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!” — DJT
Mary’s Mother’s Day
My sons, Denny and Ryan, along with my daughters, Kelly, Ashley, and her fiancé, Brendan, will join me in taking their mother to brunch to celebrate all she has done for our family. She has been battling a severe neurological disorder for the past few months, struggling to overcome a condition that prevents her from standing or walking on her own. An amazing woman, a wonderful wife, and a model example of the perfect mother, Mary’s selflessness is unmatched. She epitomizes the typical mom who always worries more about everyone around her than she does about herself. When I asked her, “What can I get you for Mother’s Day?” she replied, “Get people to click on the ads so we can continue delivering real news to people!” She’s the kind of mom who gets genuinely angry when the media spreads lies about Trump, and she becomes deeply upset when the media pretends that men can be women.
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY.
