Today’s Big Story…

The Department of Homeland Security will offer free flights and a $1,000 stipend to illegal aliens who voluntarily leave the U.S., saying it will save taxpayer money.

DHS says self-deportation costs about $4,500 per person—roughly 70% less than the $17,000 average for arrest, detention, and forced removal. The $1,000 stipend will be issued only after DHS confirms an individual has left the U.S. via the CBP Home self-deportation app. DHS expects self-removals to increase and says users actively departing will be deprioritized for detention or forced removal.

Another Big Story…

A New York Times photographer won a Pulitzer Prize for capturing the July 13 assassination attempt on President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Doug Mills of The New York Times captured a split-second photo of a bullet flying past Trump’s head during the rally—one of several powerful images that earned him a Pulitzer Prize. Iconic images showed Trump rising after being shot, raising his fist and shouting, “Fight, fight, fight” as agents led him offstage.

The Administration…

  • President Trump signed an executive order ending federal funding for gain-of-function research in countries like China and Iran. “It’s a big deal,” Trump said, suggesting the move could have prevented past outbreaks.

  • Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced a major cut in U.S. military generals, calling it a “historic” move to support Trump’s pledge of “peace through strength.” He said resources will be redirected from bloated headquarters to frontline troops.

  • DNI Tulsi Gabbard visited troops at Camp MacKall and Fort Bragg, meeting with soldiers and intel leaders to discuss better integrating intelligence with military operations to protect national security.

  • President Trump’s push for a 100% tariff on foreign films shook Wall Street, with the Dow briefly dropping over 100 points and film studio stocks sliding. Trump called foreign films a “national security threat” and accused them of spreading propaganda.

  • Bristol Myers Squibb announced plans to invest $40 billion in the U.S. over five years, amid Trump’s tariff threats on the pharmaceutical industry. CEO Christopher Boerner said the funds will go toward R&D, tech, and manufacturing.

  • President Trump has cut over 11,000 IRS jobs, mostly auditors. More than 7,300 probationary workers received termination notices, and 4,100 joined a deferred resignation program. Another round is underway, with 13,125 of 23,000 applicants approved.

  • President Trump announced that the 2027 NFL Draft will be held at the National Mall. Joining him were NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Commanders owner Josh Harris, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, and Housing Secretary Scott Turner.

  • The Trump administration is ramping up deportation efforts by deputizing local law enforcement to enforce immigration laws, according to a DHS memo. DHS has signed 562 agreements—up 316% from the Biden era—using a federal law that allows state and local agencies to assist with immigration enforcement.

  • Rwanda is in early talks with the Trump administration to accept deportees, following a similar deal with El Salvador. Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe confirmed the idea in an interview after visiting Washington, DC.

  • A pro-Trump legal group founded by Stephen Miller is suing Chief Justice John Roberts, challenging court rulings that have blocked key Trump actions. The lawsuit, filed by America First Legal, accuses Roberts and another official of overstepping judicial authority.

  • The Justice Department announced that four Mexican nationals living illegally in the U.S. have been indicted for smuggling hundreds of illegal aliens across the Canadian border weekly, profiting heavily from the operation.

  • Some cities scaled back or canceled Cinco de Mayo events over fears of ICE raids and deportations.

Vice President…

JD Vance reacted to a resurfaced video of Rep. Ilhan Omar demonizing white men, writing in response: “This isn’t just sick; it’s actually genocidal language. What a disgrace this person is.” The old clip of the radical ‘Squad’ member has gone viral again on social media.

Congress…

Rep. Maxine Waters plans to block a House hearing on cryptocurrency legislation, citing concerns over Trump’s ties to the industry. As joint hearings require unanimous approval, her objection will halt the session.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) told CNN that Democrats must go after Trump “for the good of the country.”

Rep. Rashida Tlaib is raising funds via text for a super PAC backing Zohran Mamdani’s NYC mayoral bid, angering some recipients. Both Tlaib and Mamdani are vocal critics of Israel and support the BDS movement.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene hinted at a possible 2026 Senate run against Sen. Jon Ossoff in a fundraising email, calling it the “biggest fight of my life.”

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp has ruled out a Senate run next year, disappointing Republicans who saw him as a top contender in a key state for expanding their Senate majority.

The Resistance…

  1. The United Nations is facing a major financial crisis, with a $200 million shortfall in 2024 and a projected $1.1 billion deficit by late 2025. Unpaid member dues are a key cause, and the UN warns it may be unable to pay staff or operate past September without major budget cuts.

  4. CNN was mocked online after airing an interview with a masked Sinaloa Cartel member who, instead of criticizing Trump’s terrorist designation, praised him for “looking out for his people.” The segment featured correspondent Isobel Yeung speaking with the gangster at a secret hideout in Mexico.

  5. A mob linked to the Tren de Aragua gang attacked two NYPD officers in Times Square, marking the second alien assault there in under two years. The officers were jumped while trying to stop the group from robbing two teens.

  6. “60 Minutes” aired a controversial segment comparing President Trump to a mob boss, while parent company Paramount Global faces a $20 billion lawsuit from his administration over election interference.

Your Opinions & Questions…

Judy: Certainly full of information on a number of subjects. How about some positive comments about the President!

47 Report: Of course! Trump truly is a once-in-a-lifetime president, and I am grateful for his leadership. One thing to remember is how thankful we should all be that we’re not stuck with Kamala Harris as president. That would be quite the scary reality: a never-ending stream of cackles and word salads!
