Today’s Big Story…

At his Michigan rally last night, President Trump called the first 100 days of his second term the “most successful” in U.S. history, marking his first major event since returning to office.

In his first 100 days, Trump has signed at least 140 executive orders targeting border security, deportation initiatives, women’s sports protections, education reform, and energy expansion. His administration has scored over $5 trillion in new investment pledges and generated 450,000 jobs while working to end two wars. Trump called the period a “revolution in common sense” beyond party lines of Republicans vs. Democrats.

Before his rally in Warren, President Trump visited Selfridge Air National Guard Base, where he announced plans to replace retiring A-10 Warthogs with 21 new F-15EX Eagle II fighter jets.

Another Big Story…

At a joint press conference before the Michigan rally, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent addressed reporters' questions on Trump's ongoing trade negotiations and the big upcoming tax bill.

Bessent said China must act to lower its tariffs, warning it could lose up to 10 million jobs if U.S. tariffs remain at 145%, or 5 million even with modest reductions. He also noted the U.S. and India are close to finalizing a major trade deal, making India the first Asian country to soon sign a deal with President Trump.

Bessent also confirmed that progress on Trump’s big tax bill is going “much better” than expected, crediting the president’s leadership and GOP unity. He mentioned a “very good meeting” with top officials that he called the “Big 6,” which includes White House National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett, House Speaker Mike Johnson, Senate Majority Leader John Thune, Senate Finance Chair Mike Crapo, and House Ways and Means Chair Jason Smith.

To ease the affordability crisis, Bessent said Trump’s plan will include tax relief for working Americans—no taxes on tips, overtime, or Social Security, and deductible auto payments. He added that the plan will also make the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanent, providing certainty to both businesses and citizens.

My Thoughts…

Yesterday, on the DML Report, I gave Trump’s first 100 days an A- grade. And his Michigan rally was truly electric. I must say, the highlight of Trump’s Michigan visit was when he unexpectedly put Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer on the spot to speak to the troops at the Selfridge base. I’m sure she received a stern phone call from the DNC following her awkward speech for participating at a Trump rally.

ALSO: Last night, President Trump sat down for an interview with ABC News anchor Terry Moran to mark his first 100 days back in the White House and set the record straight on two hot topics: tariffs and mass deportations. There was so much covered that the best thing for me to do is dedicate my entire podcast to the interview later this morning at 10am. Catch me LIVE on Facebook.

The Administration…

  • In its first 100 days, President Trump’s DHS deported nearly 300 illegal alien gang members to El Salvador’s Terrorism Confinement Center—mostly from Tren de Aragua and MS-13—now designated as foreign terrorists.

  • President Trump signed an executive order requiring U.S. commercial truck drivers to be proficient in English, citing their vital role in the nation’s economy.

  • President Trump also signed an executive order directing the DOJ to coordinate free legal representation for police officers accused of misconduct. The initiative seeks pro bono assistance from private law firms to defend officers who are "unjustly" accused.

  • President Trump confirmed he will sign the TAKE IT DOWN Act, a House-passed bill backed by First Lady Melania Trump, to combat the non-consensual posting of explicit images, including AI-generated “deepfake” nudes.

  • President Trump also announced his FEMA review council, tasked with shifting more emergency authority to states. The move follows his January executive order to reform FEMA after criticizing its recent disaster responses.

  • Former Mumford & Sons musician Winston Marshall asked the White House if President Trump would grant political asylum to UK citizens punished for online speech, citing growing concerns about free speech in Britain.

  • The State Department revoked 4,000 student visas in Trump’s first 100 days, with 90% belonging to individuals with serious criminal records.

  • According to Labor Department data, U.S. private-sector job openings rose in late March while layoffs declined, showing a resilient labor market. Employers posted 7.19 million vacancies, slightly down from February but still above pre-pandemic levels, as private-sector demand offset a drop in government hiring.

  • President Trump joked that he was his “first choice” to replace the late Pope Francis—a remark sure to rile his leftist critics.

  • President Trump signed a pair of executive orders on Tuesday that walked back some tariffs for carmakers, removing levies that Ford, General Motors and others have complained would backfire on U.S. manufacturing by raising the cost of production and squeezing their profits.

  • The Trump administration threatened on Tuesday to withhold federal funds from Chicago’s public schools over a program designed to unfairly help Black students. Called, “The Black Student Success Plan,” claims are it amounted to racial discrimination.

Vice President…

JD Vance will visit the Nucor Steel plant in Berkeley County, South Carolina, on May 1 to tout the Trump administration’s first 100 days and promote its “manufacturing renaissance,” with a focus on restoring U.S. production, especially in steel.

Congress…

House Republicans voted 216-208 to block Democrats from forcing votes on the Trump administration’s Signal use, Elon Musk’s potential conflicts of interest, and other controversial issues.

The Senate confirmed former Sen. David Perdue (R-Ga.) as ambassador to China in a 67-29 vote, filling a key post amid ongoing trade tensions with Beijing.

Four House Democrats—Reps. Frost, Garcia, Dexter, and Ansari—traveled to El Salvador on to advocate for the release of alleged MS-13 member Kilmar Abrego Garcia. During their trip, they stayed at the upscale Hilton San Salvador, known for its scenic volcano views.

Rep. Shri Thanedar’s (D-MI) impeachment push against Trump faces backlash amid resurfaced allegations of animal abuse at his bankrupt lab and $730K in campaign debt.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez didn’t rule out a 2028 presidential run when asked about a viral video that sparked speculation of a campaign soft launch.

Rep. Angie Craig (D-Minn.) announced she will run for Senate, vacating her swing district seat and giving House Republicans a prime pickup opportunity in 2026.

Republicans in Congress have proposed legislation to charge fentanyl dealers with felony murder if their drugs cause an overdose death, with penalties including life in prison or the death penalty. Rep. Tony Gonzales said the bill aims to send a strong message to cartel-linked traffickers: “If you sell the drug and take an innocent life, justice will be delivered.”

The Resistance…

  1. Months after VP Vance criticized European censorship, Germany’s incoming coalition is pushing new restrictions on free speech, including a media oversight body to combat “information manipulation.”

  2. Punchbowl News reported that Amazon would display tariff costs next to product prices, but Jeff Bezos soon reversed course. The move followed private pressure from President Trump and public criticism from Press Secretary Leavitt, who highlighted a report linking Amazon to Chinese propaganda.

  3. China’s Communist Party released a fiery propaganda video vowing “never to kneel” in Trump’s tariff war, accusing the U.S. of bullying and urging global opposition.

  4. Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Liberal Party won Canada’s federal election, boosted by a surge in support amid President Trump’s annexation threats and trade war.

  5. Trump critic and Star Wars actor Mark Hamill mocked President Trump again, posting on Bluesky to apologize to Canada after Carney’s election win. He called Trump a “man-baby” lacking intelligence and self-control, ending with the hashtag “Make America Normal Again.”

  6. Trump critic and actor Robert De Niro’s 29-year-old son, Airyn (formerly Aaron), came out as transgender and began hormone treatment in 2024, revealing the radical decision in an interview with Them magazine.

  7. Former Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff accused the Trump administration of politicizing the Holocaust after his removal from the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council.

  8. The illegal alien who stole Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s purse had been arrested weeks earlier in New York for a similar theft but was released with a court date he skipped.

  9. Judge Hannah C. Dugan of Milwaukee, who was arrested last week on charges of obstructing immigration enforcement, has been suspended, according to an order from the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

  10. On Tuesday, a federal judge in California issued a preliminary injunction barring Border Patrol agents from stopping individuals without having a reasonable suspicion of illegal presence, as required by the Fourth Amendment.

  11. The Democratic National Committee has issued a statement responding to Trump’s rally marking 100 days in office. “While Donald Trump lives in his delusions, Michigan families – along with millions of working families across this country – are forced to live with the consequences of his dangerous, chaotic, and economy-destroying agenda,” said DNC Chair Ken Martin.

In Other News…

  1. A violent brawl broke out among Carnival Cruise passengers as they disembarked the Carnival Jubilee in Galveston, Texas, leading to more than a dozen lifetime bans. The chaos was caught on video and shared widely online. Watch here…

  2. Missing Long Island Democrat Petros Krommidas, 29, was last seen heading for a training swim at Long Beach. His clothes and phone were later found on the beach near his locked car, but he is still missing. Details here…
