Day 100
A star catches fire from the media
Today’s Big Story…
President Trump will host a rally today in Michigan to mark the 100th day of his second term.
The event will be held at 6 p.m. at the Sports & Expo Center on Macomb Community College’s South Campus in Warren, with remarks from elected officials before Trump speaks. Trump is expected to address trade, international alliances, government reform, ending diversity programs, deporting illegal aliens, and imposing heavy tariffs to secure fairer trade deals.
Organizers are calling the event a "celebration of the most successful and monumental first 100 days of any administration in history." Macomb County was among the southeast Michigan communities that backed Trump in 2024, helping him win the state’s 15 electoral votes over Democrat Kamala Harris. In Macomb, Trump defeated Harris by nearly 14 points.
Another Big Story…
The Philadelphia Eagles visited the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl victory, although several players, including quarterback Jalen Hurts, wide receiver A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith, chose not to attend.
The player drawing the most media attention, however, is running back Saquon Barkley, who faced criticism after spending time with President Donald Trump before the team's visit. Barkley was seen golfing with Trump at his Bedminster course in New Jersey and later flew to Washington with the president aboard Air Force One.
In response to the backlash, Barkley posted on X, stating he was honored to play with Trump and noted that he had also recently golfed with former President Obama.

My Thoughts…
At the 100-day mark, President Trump’s biggest accomplishment is proving that the border can be effectively shut down, with illegal crossings at record lows. Migrant shelters are closing as catch-and-release numbers have dropped 99.99%, and cartels are struggling to find customers. Under Biden, daily encounters topped 10,000; over the weekend, it was just 178, with gotaways falling from 1,800 to 38.
As for the Eagles, shame on Hurts and the players who disrespectfully skipped a traditional invite to the White House. And shame on the media for attacking Barkley and politicizing his hangout with Trump. They could only wish to be as cool and collected as Barkley.

The Administration…
President Trump revealed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky requested more weapons during their meeting at the Vatican. Trump added he is “very disappointed” with Russia, especially over its drone attacks on Ukraine shortly after their meeting.
Polls opened in Canada after a turbulent election season, with Liberals focusing on President Trump and Conservatives promising a break from the “lost Liberal decade.” Trump advised that Canada should become the 51st U.S. state.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said China must take the first step to ease the trade war. He called the current 145% U.S. tariffs and China’s 125% retaliatory tariffs unsustainable, effectively creating a trade embargo. Bessent added that while the U.S. is negotiating with 15 to 18 key partners, with India likely to sign first, talks with China remain limited.
Foreign policy expert Gordon Chang warned that something is “very, very wrong” in Beijing, pointing to signs of “end-of-regime conduct” under Xi Jinping. He noted that, instead of seeking allies as trade with the U.S. declines, China is provoking the Philippines, Taiwan, South Korea, and Australia.
The first oil production from a U.S.-French venture in the Gulf of America signals progress in Trump’s push for American energy dominance. Chevron and TotalEnergies announced production from the deep-water Ballymore field, a 60-40 partnership favoring Chevron.
Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich said he is open to running for Senate as a MAGA Republican. Blagojevich, who served nearly eight years for public corruption, was later pardoned by President Trump.
The U.S. Navy confirmed the USS Harry S. Truman lost an F/A-18 Super Hornet and a tow tractor overboard while operating in the Red Sea. The jet was towed in a hangar bay when the crew lost control, sending both into the water.
Attorney General Pam Bondi said that nearly 200 calls to 911 were made under the Biden administration regarding the Colorado nightclub raided by the DEA, noting the Trump administration had been monitoring the club.
Radio host Charlamagne Tha God criticized the media for omitting that a two-year-old deported by the Trump administration was sent back with her noncitizen mother. News reports claimed Trump deported U.S. citizen children, but Secretary of State Marco Rubio called the coverage “misleading,” noting it ignored the mothers' immigration status.
The White House lawn now features posters of 100 of the worst illegal aliens arrested during the first 100 days of Trump’s second term, each listing alleged crimes such as rape, murder, child sexual assault, and fentanyl and gun distribution.

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) reintroduced the PELOSI Act to ban members of Congress from trading individual stocks, with President Trump signaling he would sign it. Named after former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the bill targets concerns over insider trading linked to her husband.
Tensions are rising in the demoralized Florida Democratic Party after state Senate Minority Leader Jason Pizzo left the party, declaring it “dead.” Pizzo criticized today’s Democrats as unrecognizable from the party his father once supported.
