DAY 45: TODAY’S BIG STORY…

President Donald Trump delivered his first joint address to Congress since returning to office, proclaiming the theme "America is Back" to a deeply divided chamber.

Throughout the 100-minute speech, Democrats posed resistance at Trump with jeers, name-calling, and dumb handheld signs that read, “FALSE.” African American Democrat Representative Al Green, who has attempted to impeach Trump three times, was constantly interrupting Trump by screaming over his speech. Green was warned several times that he would be physically removed from the event if he did not stop shouting. Green ignored the warnings; he continued to be loud while refusing to sit. Speaker Mike Johnson had no choice but to order the Sergeant-at-Arms to escort Green out.

Democrats never stood or clapped, even when victims of crimes were announced as guests. Several Democrats walked out during the address. As noted, they held up small black signs, a few of them read, “Musk Steals” — referring to DOGE leader Elon Musk, who was in attendance.

Despite the Democrat’s childish behavior, Trump was poised as he listed his administration’s successes covering his first 45 days. He touched on everything, including slashing federal jobs, uncovered fraud and wasteful spending, imposing tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China, and launching a historic border crackdown. He honored many guests, including Jocelyn Nungaray and her mother, Alexis, who was in the gallery, announcing he had signed an order renaming a wildlife refuge after the 12-year-old killed by illegal aliens. Republicans stood and cheered as the mother wept; Democrats remained seated.

Trump also praised a young black boy, 13-year-old DJ Daniels, who is fighting brain cancer, making him an honorary Secret Service member mid-speech. It was one of the most emotional moments of the night when DJ hugged the Secret Service agent who offered him an official badge. The conservatives applaud and cheered for DJ, the Democrats remained seated. Trump then surprised Jason Hartley, a young student athlete who was notified of his acceptance into West Point.

The speech, the longest presidential address to Congress in modern history, encapsulated Trump’s vision to Make America Great Again. Throughout, Republican lawmakers frequently chanted “USA! USA!” in support — Democrats remained seated. Despite the partisan rancor, Trump never fell off his pace and positivity, he stood confident in celebrating his “common sense revolution” and framing his early actions as the dawn of a new golden age.

AND HERE’S ANOTHER BIG STORY…

President Trump’s 25% tariffs have been reactivated after a 30-day pause, and the leaders of Canada and Mexico are fuming. Wall Street doesn’t like the tariffs much either, as the market declined heavily for the second day in a row.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau blasted the Trump administration’s tariffs, calling them “very dumb” and vowing Canada “will not back down.” He accused the U.S. of starting a trade war with “its closest friend”, Canada. He also said Trump is appeasing Putin, and called the Russian leader a “lying, murderous dictator.” Trudeau also made his attack personal, repeatedly referring to President Trump as simply “Donald.”

Trump fired back at Trudeau following his tirade, mockingly referring to Trudeau as “governor” and warning that things are about to get much worse for Canada.

MY OPINION…

Trump’s speech was epic, and it clearly accomplished three things:

1. He made the world see how pathetic, useless, stupid, and radical the Democrat Party stands today.

2. He made the world recognize how impressive his presidency is, accomplishing more in 45-days than Obama and Biden did in 12-years.

3. He made the world realize Trump is on a mission to Make America Great Again, and there is no person or county that will stop him.

I was very proud to be an American last night.

  • President Trump announced that Muhammed Sharifullah — the ISIS terrorist who orchestrated the Abbey Gate attack — will face justice in the U.S. for his crimes.’

  • Hong Kong-based CK Hutchison Holdings is selling its 90% stake in the Panama Ports Company—which operates the Balboa and Cristobal ports—to a U.S.-led consortium as the Trump administration pushes to reduce Chinese influence over the Panama Canal. The buyers include BlackRock, Global Infrastructure Partners, and Terminal Investment Limited.

  • The Trump administration vows to stay "ruthlessly aggressive" against cartel threats following the killing of 74-year-old Antonio Céspedes Saldierna by a suspected cartel explosive in South Texas. National Security Council spokesperson Brian Hughes emphasized the administration's commitment to securing the border, mentioning Trump’s recent designation of eight cartels as terrorist organizations.

  • The Trump administration is cracking down on pro-Hamas, pro-Palestinian protests disrupting streets and college campuses. On Truth Social, Trump vowed harsh consequences, including deportations and cutting federal funding for universities that allow the chaos.

  • Trump’s NATO ambassador nominee, Matthew Whitaker, affirmed his commitment to the alliance during his confirmation hearing despite calls for a U.S. withdrawal. Whitaker vowed to pressure allies to boost defense spending, prioritizing discussions on reaching 5% GDP contributions. He acknowledged it would take significant funding to raise U.S. defense spending from 3.4% to 5%.

  • Following the Trump administration’s push to shrink the federal workforce, the IRS plans to lay off up to 50% of its 90,000 employees, cutting around 45,000 positions.

  • EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin wrote on X: “UPDATE: Working with the talented team DOGE, I just cancelled an additional 21 grants, saving over $116 million for the American people. This third round of EPA DOGE cuts have brought our total savings up to $287 MILLION!”

  • DOGE discovered between 2020 and 2021, the Small Business Administration issued 3,095 loans totaling $333 million to borrowers over 115 years old despite being marked as alive in the Social Security database.

VICE PRESIDENT…

JD Vance addressed critics about his family's move to a new hotel in Vermont and that it was for his children's privacy, not due to safety concerns from pro-Ukraine protesters after reports suggested otherwise. The relocation occurred after hundreds of demonstrators gathered near a Vermont ski resort, protesting Vance's recent Oval Office exchange with Zelenskyy. Vermont Governor Phil Scott had urged residents to respect Vance's family trip despite political differences.

CONGRESS…

Democrats are facing backlash after over 20 lawmakers posted identical scripted selfie videos on social media ahead of President Trump’s Joint Session address. The videos, which all begin with the same clip of Trump, have gone viral, drawing mockery for their uniformity.

Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) admitted to being the mastermind who organized the social media campaign involving 22 Senate Democrats posting identical videos criticizing Trump. The revelation came after Elon Musk offered a Tesla Cybertruck to anyone proving who wrote the script of "propaganda."

Republicans mocked Democratic congresswomen for wearing pink to protest Trump during his Joint Session address, claiming it symbolizes support for women’s rights. This comes a day after Senate Democrats unanimously opposed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, which would ban biological men from competing in women’s sports.

Before Trump’s speech to Congress, Rep. Melanie Stansbury (D-N.M.) held up a handwritten sign reading, "This is not normal," as he entered the chamber. After Trump walked by, Rep. Lance Gooden (R-Texas) reached across the aisle, ripped the sign away, and tossed it aside.

House Democrats also verbally protested the speech during its beginning minutes, specifically by Rep. Al Green of Texas. Green refused to sit down even after a warning from House Speaker Johnson, who then ordered his removal by the Sergeant at Arms.

Democrats refused to stand during Trump’s address when he brought up the story of DJ Daniels, a young black boy who fought cancer.

Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) defended Trump’s tariffs on CNN’s "The Arena," referring to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as “governor.” Mullin argued the tariff measures were needed to curb illegal activity at both U.S. borders.

THE RESISTANCE…

A day after the Trump administration paused all aid to Ukraine, including weapons in transit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared he is ready for peace with Russia and for Trump to lead negotiations. The aid freeze will remain until Trump sees a good faith effort from Ukraine, following Zelenskyy’s disastrous Oval Office visit.

Hillary Clinton’s jab at Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth backfired when he reminded her of her failed "reset" with Russia. Responding to reports that Hegseth paused U.S. cyber operations against Russia amid Trump’s peace efforts in Ukraine, Clinton mocked, "Wouldn’t want to hurt Putin’s feelings." Hegseth fired back, referencing her infamous red button reset blunder.

Gov. Kathy Hochul is now branding herself as the leader of the "resistance" against Trump’s agenda, a stark reversal from two weeks ago when she insisted, “I’ve been asked countless (times) ‘Are you leading the resistance?’ — No, I’m governing the great state of New York.”

In response to U.S. tariffs, Ontario is retaliating by canceling a $100 million Starlink contract and banning U.S. firms from government contracts.

On "The View," Whoopi Goldberg admitted using her ABC News platform to promote Democratic talking points. She and her cohosts clashed with Stephen A. Smith, who argued Democrats are misreading their 2024 election losses.

IN NON-TRUMP NEWS…

Although we deliver you domestic and international news later this afternoon via the DML REPORT newsletter, here are a few worth mentioning now:

  1. Mary Kate Cornett, an 18-year-old University of Mississippi student, has been falsely accused in a viral rumor claiming she had a relationship with her boyfriend’s father. The baseless scandal spread rapidly online, drawing attention from ESPN host Pat McAfee and former NFL player Antonio Brown. Her father, Justin Cornett, condemned the ordeal, revealing Mary Kate has suffered trauma and received multiple death threats over the fabricated story.

  2. A new study finds that transgender surgery increases rates of depression, suicidal impulses, anxiety, and drug addiction. Despite this, the authors suggest more government spending on mental health rather than questioning the procedures themselves. This challenges activists and judges who argue taxpayer-funded transgender treatments are "life-saving." The study, published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, analyzed 107,583 patients and found depression doubled among men who underwent surgery.

  3. Over a dozen U.S. states face severe weather as Winter Storm Lola brings blizzards to the north and tornado threats to the south. The NWS warns of up to 18 inches of snow across the Plains and Midwest, with whiteout conditions making travel dangerous. Strong winds could cause tree damage and hazardous road conditions. Winter weather alerts are in effect from the Rockies to the Upper Midwest.
