47 Report: Day 36
Bongino gets a spot on Trump team
TODAY’S BIG STORY…
At the behest of President Trump’s new directive, over the weekend, Elon Musk and DOGE instructed federal employees of multiple agencies to submit an end-of-week report via email, describing five objectives they accomplished at work. Musk posted to X, announcing, “Consistent with President Trump’s instructions, all federal employees will shortly receive an email requesting to understand what they got done last week. Failure to respond will be taken as a resignation.”
Musk also posted a poll that asked, “Should all federal employees be required to send a short email with some basic bullet points about what they accomplished last week?”
70% who took the poll responded “Yes”.
The email sent to federal workers required a response to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) by the end of tonight. However, multiple federal agencies, including the Pentagon, FBI, and State Department, advised employees not to respond to Musk’s email over concerns of releasing sensitive security information.
Musk, via his X account, responded to criticisms over the directive by stating, “The reason this matters is that a significant number of people who are supposed to be working for the government are doing so little work that they are not checking their email at all! In some cases, we believe non-existent people or the identities of dead people are being used to collect paychecks. In other words, there is outright fraud.”
AND HERE’S ANOTHER BIG STORY…
President Donald Trump announced that the conservative podcaster and former Secret Service agent, Dan Bongino, will serve as the next deputy director of the FBI. Bongino, who in the past ran for political office three times and lost each time, will serve under FBI Director Kash Patel.
MY OPINION…
I have no problem with Musk demanding the federal employees justify their existence. Why do federal employees get special treatment? The rest of have to account for our value each day. The more Musk and Trump force the government to be more transparent, the more we will succeed as a nation.
As for Bongino being tapped to work for Trump, I have a theory on how this unfolded —I’ll share my thoughts today on the Dennis Michael Lynch Podcast. Overall, Bongino is showing how much he loves his country — the guy is giving up a ton of money to work for the government. And as a side note, we will be moving my podcast to the 11am ET slot to help fill the void Dan leaves. I suspect the change will start Tuesday of this week.
Thank you Mr. President, Attorney General Bondi, and Director Patel.

THE ADMINISTRATION…
In his first month, President Trump signed at least 70 executive orders, including 26 executive orders on his first day in office. So far, 17 of President Trump’s Cabinet members have been confirmed.
Trump signed a National Security Presidential Memorandum (NSPM) to block adversaries like China from buying U.S. farmland. A White House fact sheet notes foreign entities own 43 million acres of U.S. agricultural land, with China holding over 350,000 acres across 27 states.
Trump initiated the firing of 2,000 employees from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and placed thousands more on administrative leave, effective from Sunday night. This move follows a federal judge's decision to allow the administration to proceed with its restructuring plan for USAID, which aims to reduce staff and reorganize operations.
FBI Director Kash Patel is set to also lead the ATF following Attorney General Pam Bondi’s recent firing of ATF General Counsel Pamela Hicks.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed to journalist Catherine Herridge that he’ll open the State Department briefing room to independent journalists.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Sunday backed Mr. Trump’s decision to dismiss the nation’s top military officer, saying that he was “not the right man for the moment.” Mr. Trump on Friday purged several military officers, including the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr., as part of a pledge to fire “woke officers” and promote officers steeped in a “warrior culture.”
Tulsi Gabbard, the director of national intelligence, has criticized security agencies for eroding privacy and civil liberties, and said she would work to ensure that intelligence collected on Americans would not be improperly used against them.
Steve Witkoff, President Trump’s Middle East envoy, said Sunday on CNN that he met with President Vladimir Putin during a recent trip to Moscow. He said they had a “positive” meeting
The military transported about 15 immigration detainees from Texas to the U.S. base at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, on Sunday, bringing in new migrants who have been designated for deportation days after it cleared the base of its first group of deportees.
A federal judge rejected the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' lawsuit to block the Trump administration from cutting refugee resettlement funds.
The Trump administration has officially cut the funding of a $769 million contract for the Acacia Center for Justice, a legal group that pushes for penalties against attorneys and judges who misgender illegal aliens.
President Trump congratulated conservative leader Friedrich Merz defeating Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Germany’s election, with the CDU winning the national election and the right-wing AfD securing a strong second place.
President Emmanuel Macron of France landed in D.C. Sunday night for talks with Trump on Monday about the war in Ukraine. Macron has been organizing the European response to the U.S. push for peace talks to end the war.
President Félix Tshisekedi of the Congo offered the U.S. control over the country's vast mineral resources, including cobalt, coltan, gold, and lithium, to persuade Trump to end the war in Rwanda. China currently dominates Congo’s mineral sector.
DOGE reported the U.S. sent $4.4B to Haiti after the 2010 earthquake—yet less than 2% reached Haitians, while 56% lined the pockets of D.C. firms. The Red Cross claimed to shelter 130,000 people—but built just SIX homes. No transparency. No accountability. USAID and NGOs refuse to answer where the money went—while Haitians were left with nothing.
USAID’s Haiti scandal is staggering. The U.S. sent $4.4B after the 2010 earthquake—yet less than 2% reached Haitians, while 56% lined the pockets of D.C. firms.

JD Vance dominated the 2025 CPAC straw poll results, with over 1,000 attendees selecting their preferred 2028 GOP nominee. Vance led with 61%, Ron DeSantis hit 7%.
CONGRESS…
Sen. John Curtis (R-UT) defended Trump’s decision to fire senior military officers, calling his election a “stop the car” moment in politics during a Face The Nation interview.
Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) said on Meet The Press that the U.S. warned Ukrainian President Zelensky in 2022 to negotiate with Russia to prevent war before the invasion. He also said the United States should reevaluate whether to stay in NATO.
Rep. Troy Balderson (R-Ohio) urged Congress to act on Trump’s executive orders, emphasizing that lawmakers must legislate rather than rely on executive actions.
Rep. Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) sent letters Thursday to federal agency heads demanding answers on directives silencing employees and the recent firing of U.S. Forest Service staff.
Representative Jim Himes of Connecticut, the top Democrat of the House Intelligence Committee, compared Trump’s push for a deal on rare earth minerals in Ukraine in exchange for U.S. aid to mafia extortion.
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minnesota) called conservative Americans “idiots” and “stupid,” and accused them of lacking intellectual discourse while discussing the Trump presidency with far-left commentator Medhi Hasan.

THE CRAZY LEFT…
Super Bowl champs, the Philadelphia Eagles, declined the invitation to visit to the White House to celebrate winning the big game. The team also declined to visit the White House during Trump's first term after winning the Super Bowl in 2018.
Speculation about the 2028 Democratic nominee is already swirling, with an unexpected name climbing the odds list—sports commentator Stephen A. Smith. Smith ranks fourth in Kalshi’s prediction market, ahead of figures like Kamala Harris, Michelle Obama, and Mark Cuban. He is now seen as a contender alongside Pete Buttigieg, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, and Maryland Gov. Wes Moore.
MSNBC is canceling Joy Reid’s show as part of a programming overhaul by new network president Rebecca Kutler. The final episode is set for this week, and a replacement show is in place.
More artists are canceling shows at D.C.'s Kennedy Center in protest of President Trump, following pressure from left-wing activists. High-profile cancellations, including Shonda Rhimes, Ben Folds, and Renée Fleming, have coincided with a 50% drop in ticket sales.
Jane Fonda called Trump a 'traumatized person' while accepting the SAG Life Achievement Award. The Hollywood star, 87, at one point earned the nickname 'Hanoi Jane' for her protest of the Vietnam War in a celebrity life that has long been intertwined with liberal causes.
Kamala Harris faced social media mockery after receiving the Chairman’s Award at the 56th NAACP Image Awards, where she warned of “flames on our horizons” and threats to democracy under Trump’s second term.
Employees at Yosemite National Park staged a protest by hanging an upside-down American flag on El Capitan, symbolizing national distress in response to extensive federal job cuts under President Trump's administration.
Ukrainian President Zelenskyy has clarified that the financial aid received from the United States was given as grants, not loans. He explicitly stated that there is no recognition of a $500 billion or even a $100 billion debt, emphasizing that the aid was agreed upon as grants by Joe Biden. In short, we ain’t seeing a dime.
Boston City Council member Sharon Durkan called out Border Czar Tom Homan on social media, calling his promises to enforce President Trump's border policy "laughable." Her response on X came after Homan said he would "bring hell" to Beantown after Boston Police doubled down on the city’s sanctuary policies.
