The GAZA Takeover

In an announcement that stunned just about everyone in the world, President Trump proposed that the U.S. take over the embattled Gaza Strip and that all two million Palestinians living there leave. He suggested they relocate to one or more sites funded by “countries of interest with humanitarian hearts.” Trump made the remarks while hosting a press conference with Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, who was warm to the idea.

Trump said he has studied the conditions in Gaza and his idea to seize and develop it has gotten “tremendous” support from the “highest of leadership” as a viable plan to bring peace to the Middle East.

“The U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too,” Trump said. “We’ll own it and be responsible for disposing of unexploded munitions and rebuilding Gaza into a mecca for jobs and tourism.” Trump concluded by saying Gaza would end up being “the Riviera of the Middle East” where the “world’s people” would live.

The proposal faces multiple hurdles. There is no legal authority giving the U.S. the right to take over the territory, and the forcible removal of a population violates international law. The terror group Hamas, which rules in Gaza, immediately rejected the idea on Tuesday, and Egypt and Jordan have rejected the idea of taking in a large influx of Palestinians. Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its support for an independent Palestinian state and said establishing diplomatic ties with Israel depends on the creation of such a state.

In addition to his Gaza proposal, Trump signed an executive order officially withdrawing the U.S. from the United Nations Human Rights Council and from participating in UNRWA, the U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees. The pullout occurred hours before Trump met with Netanyahu. The Israeli leader credited Trump as the driving force behind the January ceasefire deal before his inauguration and labeled the U.S. and President Trump “the greatest friend Israel has ever had in the White House."

ALSO HAPPENING…
The full Senate voted Pam Bondi in as Trump’s Attorney General. Bondi passed on a 54-46 vote. A surprise vote of support came from Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, the lone Democrat crossing the aisle to confirm Bondi.

As for Tulsi Gabbard, she has advanced forward after the Senate Intelligence Committee voted in her favor of her nomination as Director of National Intelligence. Despite clearing the panel vote, her full Senate confirmation remains uncertain.

Profile Picture DML OPINION

In my opinion, Trump is playing chess with the Middle East in an attempt to bring piece to the region. Unfortunately, I think this is one of those ideas that stalls at the podium. The Middle East is filled with radical Islamic nations who are brainwashed by the Quran, and who see peace as unobtainable until Israel is wiped off the map.

To support my stance, consider there were reports on Monday that U.S. intelligence officials believe Iran is seeking to build a cruder atomic weapon that could be developed quickly. Iran’s new president has indicated that he would like to begin a negotiation with Trump’s, but it’s total BS — Iran’s nuclear scientists continue to push ahead with nuclear weapons development.

Furthermore, Trump knows Iran is not to be trusted. On Tuesday he signed an executive order directing a return to the policy of “maximum pressure” on Iran through sanctions, but avoided hostile language and refused to say whether he would support an Israeli strike on Iranian nuclear facilities. “This is one I’m torn about,” he said as he signed the order. “Hopefully, we’re not going to have to use it very much.”

Trump also declared that he has given instructions to obliterate Iran should they attempt to assassinate him. I will talk about all of this today on the DML Podcast, which you can listen to on Apple (subscribe for free).

VP VANCE

The Vice President responded to Musk’s tweet that highlighted fraud in the federal government is closer to 10% of disbursements, estimating it at around $700 billion annually, while outright waste exceeds 15%, totaling over $1 trillion. His remarks follow revelations that the government lost $236 billion to "improper payments" in 2023 alone.

Vance wrote: When Elon and the team started I was very supportive but thought the waste and fraud would top out at $250 billion. The real number will end up much higher.”

CONGRESS

The Senate confirmed fracking executive Chris Wright as Energy Secretary in a bipartisan 59-38 vote.

The Senate confirmed Doug Collins as Veterans Affairs Secretary in a 77-23 vote.

The Senate Finance Committee advanced Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s nomination for Health and Human Services Secretary in a narrow 14-13 party-line vote.

A key House vote on a major conservative policy bill has been delayed, disrupting GOP advancement of Trump’s agenda. Budget Committee conservatives rejected spending cut proposals, pushing for deeper reductions before Senate negotiations.

Republican lawmakers are proposing the 'Dismantle DEI Act,' aimed to codify Trump’s anti-DEI measures into law permanently. This act seeks to ban race-based hiring practices and close DEI offices.
