Tulsi, Kash & Kennedy

While the D.C. area was reeling from the tragic aircraft collision near Reagan Washington National Airport, a handful of President Trump’s nominees were facing grilling from Senate committees on Capitol Hill.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. entered Round 2 of his confirmation hearings, this time against the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions. Senator Bernie Sanders sparred once again with RFK Jr. The HHS Secretary nominee, however, shut down Sanders’ rant about vaccines when he revealed the Vermont senator has raked in millions of dollars from Big Pharma in the past.

Kash Patel, Trump’s FBI director nominee, also had his hearing today before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Before entering the room, Forbes magazine published a hit piece on Patel, childishly claiming he’s profited financially from being pro-Trump. During the hearing, exchanges grew heated as Patel defended himself against Democrat Senators like Amy Klobuchar, who accused him of harboring an enemies list, and for being a provocateur of political retribution. Senator Dick Durbin asked about Jan. 6, proving Democrats remain hung up on the past and unwilling to move on.

Finally, Tulsi Gabbard faced the Senate Intelligence Committee for her hearing as Trump’s Director of National Intelligence pick. Both Democrats and Republicans launched aggressive questions about her views on the Russia-Ukraine war and section 702 of FISA. They also questioned her extensively about her views on whistleblower Edward Snowden. She looked and sounded sharp throughout. But according to our sources, Gabbard’s confirmation may be more challenging than Pete Hegseth’s.

ALSO…

President Trump spoke to the press at the White House briefing room, accompanied by VP Vance, Sec of Defense Hegseth, and Sec of Transportation Duffy. He confirmed critical details involving the aircraft collision over the Potomac River on Wednesday night. Trump explained how an American Airlines jet en route from Wichita, Kansas, to Washington, D.C., carrying 67 passengers and crew, collided with a Black Hawk helicopter on a training flight out of Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Trump confirmed there were no survivors.

The president told reporters an investigation is underway. He also lambasted the DEI policies implemented under the Biden administration and former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. Trump said Buttigieg was a total disaster and accused him of running the department into the ground. He also accused Buttigieg of focusing solely on diversity hires, adding that the former Indiana mayor is terrible at everything but has a “good line of bullsh*t”.

Trump pointed out how the former administration prioritized hiring disabled and mentally-impaired individuals to work in air control towers. Trump confirmed this sort of hiring will end, as only the most qualified will be granted safety-critical jobs.

Profile Picture DML OPINION

From Denny: Today, I’m filling in for my father (DML). And as a 29-year-old who loves America, the aircraft collision in D.C. was eye-opening in two ways:

  1. Innocent people died, many of them younger than me. No matter how old or young you are, life is to be valued every single day; truly live it like it could be your last, because time on Earth is truly fleeting and precious.

  2. After four years of the Biden administration, it’s clear that DEI programs have become a cancer. While more details will continue to emerge about the crash, the tragedy is shedding a light on how the airline industry has been subject to woke agendas and dangerous practices.

It’s no secret the FAA has been selectively hiring based on DEI bias. There was a report last year about the agency blacklisting the hiring of white males in favor of disabled applicants, including those with psychiatric problems and intellectual issues. And this is why DEI is indeed cancerous. As air traveler, every person in America should want the BEST, QUALIFIED person for such a high stress job regardless of skin color or gender.

Making matters worse, there are reports of hiring shortages for air traffic controllers. Until these roles are filled, the air travel system is high-risk. There should be fewer flights if there are fewer controllers; one controller should not be doing the job of two people when lives are at stake. Thankfully the Trump administration, including Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy will quickly get things back to normal.

SIDE NOTE: Next month, my father will launch a health and wellness newsletter centered around the Make America Healthy Again movement. Stay tuned.

  • An internal FAA report found air traffic staffing at Reagan National was inadequate during the collision. A single controller handled both helicopters and runway traffic; a role usually split between two people. This can disrupt communications, as separate radio frequencies prevent pilots from hearing each other.

  • →→→LABOR REPORT: The Reagan Airport control tower had been understaffed for years and was understaffed by about 30% on the night of the crash. Many controllers work up to six days a week and 10-hour shifts.

  • →→→FAA AUDIO: A day before the collision near Reagan National, Republic Airways Flight 4514 had to abort its landing due to a helicopter near its path, air traffic recordings reveal. The jet later landed safely.

  • Trump received dumb questions from the mainstream press concerning the D.C. crash. One reporter asked if he had visit the crash site, to which Trump answered: What, in the water? Do you want me to go swimming?

  • Trump attacked Jerome Powell in a Truth Social post after the Fed Reserve Chair signaled a wait-and-see approach to interest rate cuts. The Fed had lowered rates by a full percentage point over three meetings in 2024, but Trump criticized him for not doing enough to curb inflation.

  •  Federal prosecutors dropped cases against two of Trump’s former co-defendants in the Mar-a-Lago document case: Walt Nauta, a valet at Mar-a-Lago, and Carlos De Oliveira, a Mar-a-Lago property manager.

  • Trump’s new head of the Federal Communications Commission has ordered an investigation of NPR and PBS, with an eye toward unraveling federal funding for all public broadcasting.

  • Trump reaffirmed his expectation that Egypt and Jordan accept displaced Palestinians from Gaza, despite their leaders' refusals. He suggested using economic measures like tariffs as leverage to influence their policies.

  • The NY Times reported late last night that Paramount is in settlement talks with Trump over his ‘60 Minutes’ lawsuit for $10 billion.

  • A handful of senior F.B.I. employees have been told to resign in a matter of days or be fired, as the Trump administration moves to shake up the agency’s upper ranks.

  • Doug Burgum was confirmed by the Senate on Thursday to lead the Interior Department.

  • Overnight, the U.S. Central Command conducted a targeted airstrike in northwest Syria, resulting in the death of Muhammad Salah al-Za'bir, a senior operative of Hurras al-Din, an Al-Qaeda affiliate.

  • President Trump signed an executive order directing federal agencies to deport anti-Semitic resident aliens, including student visa holders, who broke U.S. law. The order targets anti-Jewish protesters who committed crimes after Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist attacks.

THE CRAZY LEFT

CNN analyst Bakari Sellers blamed Trump for the D.C. midair collision in an X post, citing his recent hiring freeze order (despite its exemption for public safety jobs). He later deleted the post and apologized.

Mark Zuckerberg's alignment with President Trump’s anti-DEI initiative is coming with resistance by woke Meta employees. After Meta removed tampons from men’s bathrooms, some LGBT-identifying employees are secretly bringing their own.

The Biden administration sent $15 million to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan for contraceptive distribution. USAID allocated the funds last July for a $100 million package for women's rights. The funds were used for oral contraceptives and condoms by coordination of Biden and Taliban officials.

J.D. VANCE

Citing Scripture: VP Vance pushed back on a critic who antagonized his citation of scripture during an appearance on Hannity. He tells his critic to understand the term, ordo amoris. The term translates from Latin as "order of loves" and is a concept from Christian philosophy associated with St. Augustine. It refers to the idea that there is a proper order to human affections and priorities, suggesting that love should be directed appropriately according to a hierarchy of values. In his post, Vance emphasizes the importance of recognizing and adhering to a hierarchy of obligations, implying that failing to do so contradicts common sense.

CONGRESS

Nicole Shanahan, RFK Jr.’s former running mate, warned that she would fund primary challengers if they oppose his confirmation. In a video post, She reminded viewers to watch out for senators like Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, James Lankford, Cory Booker, and Bernie Sanders.

A notable moment from Kash Patel’s hearing was his clash with Sen. Adam Schiff after the California Democrat accused him of promoting the “J6 Prison Choir” song Justice for All. Patel dismissed the allegations and then the debate got heated.

Whistleblower disclosures obtained by Sen. Chuck Grassley reveal an anti-Trump FBI agent allegedly broke protocol to open and push the 2020 election-related probe into Trump without proper justification. The investigation, dubbed Arctic Frost, was unveiled by the release of FBI emails by Grassley and Sen. Ron Johnson.
